Where did the word 'marijuana' come from? In the mid 1930s, the M-word was created to tarnish the good image and phenomenal history of the hemp plant...as you will read. The facts cited here, with references, are generally verifiable in the Encyclopaedia Britannica which was printed on hemp paper for 150 years: * All schoolbooks were made from hemp or flax paper until the 1880s; Hemp Paper Reconsidered, Jack Frazier, 1974. * It was LEGAL TO PAY TAXES WITH HEMP in America from 1631 until the early 1800s; LA Times, Aug. 12, 1981. * REFUSING TO GROW HEMP in America during the 17th and 18th Centuries WAS AGAINST THE LAW! You could be jailed in Virginia for refusing to g…

12 March 2006 TRANSCRIPT OF THE PRIME MINISTER THE HON JOHN HOWARD MP ADDRESS TO THE DEAKIN SOCIETY, MELBOURNE "REFLECTIONS ON THE SITUATION IN IRAQ" E&OE… During our recent celebrations of the Coalition's ten years in power, I have, as Prime Minister, been publicly reflecting on our Party's many great achievements, as was appropriate to do. But on this occasion, among old friends and senior colleagues, I wish to share some unsettling thoughts about the situation in Iraq. Three years ago in Sydney, when I spoke to the men and women of the Australian Defence Force, who were gathered on the deck of HMAS Kanimbla, I felt that above all other Australians, they were entitl…

By Linda Silmalis January 22, 2006 SCHOOLS across the state will be forced to play the Australian anthem before class under a radical NSW Government plan to create respect in the community. Teachers at primary schools will be required to introduce "Australian values" studies from the beginning of this school year while the Three Rs will be expanded to five to include the topics of Respect and Responsibility. The move marks the first stage of plans to foster respect of authority which will be rolled out over the next few months. The changes cover all the major portfolios, including police, transport and housing. It will include a law enforcement package with ne…

Hey guys... Just thought I would put in a Plug for a Lawsuit we were in a few years ago, as NOTHING in Canada has changed since we SUED the Government for a SAFE, CLEAN, AFFORDABLE source of Cannabis in 2003. I STILL buy from the street when I can't grow enough to take care of my needs and am RARELY able to fill my allotted prescription of 20-28 grams a DAY. I am one of the largest prescriptions for Cannabis in Canada at this time due to an excruciating pain I have in my face twenty four hours a day called Tic Douloureux - the Worst pain known to medicine, associated with Multiple Sclerosis..... I am STILL fighting to have ALL Drugs legalized and regulated here in…

I've tried interpreting the wording of the actual law, but I can't figure out if it is one plant per house or per person? Does anyone know if I put in one for me and one for the misses, is that still covered by the on the spot fine?

Just saw a story on Sunrise where this Dr Michael Carr-Gregg was explaining the dangers of marijuana, backed up by 5second soundbytes from pimple faced schoolkids interviewed in a shopping mall. He said parents might be able to tell if their kid is smoking mj if they find their garden hose is getting shorter or they find their toothpicks are missing. Yeah good idea ya fucking wanker parents should count their toothpicks and measure their garden hose every week to see whether or not their kids are doing drugs

It won't be long before all smoking in public places, including bars, will be banned in Australia. Do you think this will effect the Hemp Bar in Nimbin? It seems the cops are willing to let them exist there as long as they keep it out of sight but what if the Health Department was involved under an anti smoking law?

other than the fact you want to get high? ok, for most of us that is good enough reason in itself, but its not a very good argument to people who don't smoke, and we need their support. so we need some better arguments. medicinal use? Yeah maybe. Mainly for relief of nausea and to make the patient feel better but no direct medicinal value in most cases. Still, any drug which is not physically addictive and has minimal side effects and health risks and makes patients feel better must be a good thing. Do we have support from the medical community on this? I don't think so. In my own experience speaking with Doctors they seem to be of the opinion that in most case…
