Four houses – at Enfield, Blair Athol, Parafield Gardens and Christies Beach – have been raided this month in the latest sweep by detectives from the Organised Crime Investigation Branch, who have been working with the Australian Crime Commission. Title documents show that the Enfield home, on Jackson Tce, is owned by former Crows midfielder Hayden Skipworth – who lives in Ballarat – and is believed to be under the management of Brenton Hart, step-father to…

Seventeen people have been arrested in two five-month drug operations targeting south-west Queensland. Police said the parallel operations were brought to a close with raids on properties in Roma, Surat, Charleville and other nearby locations. More than $27,500 in cash, a motor vehicle, a ride-on mower and expensive entertainment systems were seized, which are thought to be the proceeds of crime. Drug paraphernalia was also found. The raids come after the seizure of about 30 grams of methylamphetamine and 420 grams of cannabis, found by police in earlier raids as part of both operations. The drugs have an estimated value of approximately $18,000. State Drug In…

Government to reclassify cannabis in clampdown http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/poli...icle3156255.ece Francis Elliott and Richard Ford Cannabis is to be reclassified as a Class B drug after an official review this spring, The Times has learnt. Gordon Brown and Jacqui Smith are determined to reverse the decision to downgrade the drug when the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs completes its report in the next few months. The Australian end of the operation, launched in August after drugs were found concealed in suitcases from Canada, involved officers from Customs, the AFP, the NSW police, the Australian Crime Commission and the NSW Crime Commission. from:smh.com.au http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/illici...7740183595.html Firstly, I don't think teens should take drugs, including alcohol. I started at 14 and think it was way too young. Funny that this article seems to suggest alcohol as a gateway drug. Personally I think alcohol is probably the most serious drug problem of all. I still have problems thinking of cannabis as a drug of addiction as my own experience is that it is ridiculously easy to give up. 14% there for cannabis addiction! I guess everyones different.

Not even the hint of a suggestion that tobacco use could possibly CAUSE mental illness - yet if Politicians or the Media get a story about cannabis it's cause without proof! Really makes me angry how easily the public swallows this shit, and how most people won't even register the clear hypocrisy and lack of substance of the "cannabis psychosis" mantra: http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,22908849-421,00.html By Tamara McLean December 11, 2007 04:47pm Article from: AAP Font size: + - Send this article: Print Email PEOPLE with mental illness are three times more likely to smoke, and experts say not enough is being done to help this vulnerable group quit. HOMES in south-west Sydney, where police have seized $15 million in marijuana during raids, may be part of an elaborate hydroponic growing network. Since April police have discovered 5000 marijuana plants growing in almost a dozen houses. Detective Inspector Gus Viera, head of the Wetherill Park region enforcement squad, said detectives had not ruled out a connection between the houses. "Investigations into any possible link are ongoing," he said. The most recent raids, on November 7, netted 415 hydroponically grown cannabis plants worth an estimated $2 million from two houses in Rawson Road, Fairfield West. A man and woman were charged. The raids were part of…
