hey everyone, i'm currently running a 1000w hps wich i've had for a while, thinking of changing the globe for the next grow i can get my hands on some son t 1000w hps globes for free brand new. now the question, would i be better of getting a grow specific globe or going with the son t do they have the same lumen/lux output cheers

Hi I just signed up to the site and firstly want to say thanks to all the members as this website is an awesome read and a great help for me. I will be spending alot of time over the next month just reading past grow diaries and details on indoor growing as i am new to this. I bought this light a year ago at an auction to use for portable shed lighting but i was wondering if its possible to use it for growing plants indoors. The casing of the light has no information on what type of light it is and i thought maybe a member here would be able to tell me. Also is there any way to find out the wattage as i cant find those details either. Any info you can give would be grea…

I am no electrician and read some where that a 600w light draws more than 600w because there is a % lost in the ballast. ie a ballast that runs at 85% efficency actually draws just over 700w when running and up to two and a half times this on start up. can sombody please enlighten me.

Hey guys, I am in the middle of building a new grow room the dimensions are H:1300mm W:750mm D:500mm and im going to buy a new light either a 400HPS or a 600HPS im leaning towards the 400 because of the heat factor my fan clears 64L per second so its quite a large fan. When i put these dimensins into the OS calculater it came out that i could only have a maximum of 250watt.....? your opinions would be very helpfull.

just wonderin fo summer keepin temps down and airflow usin a phat filter will it be enough? 600 watts of light and i thinkin it wont be cool enough or will it? cheers

I decided to change the position of one of my fans last night when i noticed how hot it was in the middle where the motor is ... this seems quite inefficient - it may even be generating more heat than it cools ! Here's the fan, just as 12mm Sunon that i got from a hydroponics shop http://www.xoxide.com/120mmsunonfan.html Is this a problem with all fans? Ive never noticed any heat from small 25w desktop fans, but their motors are encased in plastic that doesnt touch the motor. I might take it apart tonight and see how it performs, and maybe just use the one 25w fan instead of several Sunons

hey lads quik question for ya's. My situation is I'm runnin 3 x 400ws and 1 x1000w in me room atm and am just over 2 weeks into veg. My problem is I can only run the 1000w for 12hrs of the 18 as i've got another room runnin and the power cant handle it. My Question is which part of the cycle should i run the 1000w, for the first 12 hrs or last? Imo runnin it in the middle would be best but that's not practical. Any thoughts?? peace c

Hello ozstoners long time lurker (since the .cjb.net days) first time whinger Here is a story After putting in about 2g on a student salery towards my grow box over the last 2 years I have continously tried to get it off the ground until just before last christmas I decided it was time to smash my fucking fist into it almost breaking bones and give up..... but now im back! you wont get the better of me hps light! I simply cannot get passed the test stage... Alot of you have seen my grows, a 1 plant box (if not follow the gallery link at the bottom) I currently use 1x 400w hps My next box will be a 2 planter............woah !!!! extending the system I can either run: 1 x 400w 2x 400w 1x 600w I scrog................ so total screen dimentions will be 1200mm x 600mm what are your thoughts. Im not sure on what to buy...........

hi stoners im thinking of buying a new light ive got a 250 watt hps. and im gonna get a 400 watter do any of u no which is better a high pressure sodium light or a metal halide light and do i have to buy a new generator thingy u no u plug ure light in and the wire goes into a box and the wire for th bulb comes out the other end srry i dont no the name but any way do i have to buy a new 1 cheers people

The shed measures about 3000lx2000w over all I want to fill the back half with a self sufficent perpetual growing station with 3 seperate chambers and 4 watering systems. I will be growng organicaly with the pots sitting in a tray of pumice, with a returning irrigation system to a 56L resiovar topped up with a ballcock valve.
