Thinking of building my own 315w ceramic metal halides using the $200 Philips ballasts globe and and adapter in the gavita triplestar reflectors. looking at having 2 of those and 1 600w hps in the centre. What would be the recommended intake and extraction fan for that room looking at doing two plants. Advice would be appreciated.

Hi All, I'm after a bit of advice. I'm in the process of planning out my grow room/space. I have an under the stairs spot that's approximately 1400x800x1000. I've got myself a 400w HPS. In regards to ventilation, I am in the process of putting in sub-floor ventilation into my place to keep under the house dry and intend on splitting off one inlet to my grow room. I'm concerned about a drop in pressure as this ventilation will be running the length of the house, not to mention having 3 inlets. The fan will be a centrifugal 200mm fan. The inlet will be dropped down to 2 x 150mm inlets and then one will be split off to my grow room. So there will be three inlets in tot…

hey guys ive never really had to worry about fan noise before but this past grow the fan i was using is a 100mm centrifugal fan with standard ducting and placed on the floor the thing i really dont like about the fan is its pitchy in noise and i get a real annoying woosh/hum all up the hallway to the front door! im going to invest in a cheap little 150mm axle inline fan its specifically designed to run carbon filters and aircooled hoods this grow, it was quiet running on the floor at the shop but once put onto a carbon filter it was louder so with ducting it should quieten some now im wondering about fan silencers are anyone running these? is it best to use two one …

Looking for a fan for the cooltubes and came across the Panasonic Whisper Quiet Line Series...USA only. They are 120volt so will need a transformer, but are meant to be super quiet. Anybody tried one here in Oz? http://www.panasonic.com/business/building-products/ventilation-systems/products/whisper-line.asp

Hi all, we're setting up some more LED vs. HPS experiments to identify better growth patterns with different LED spectrums blends and day/night periods. As such we're looking for some gear: Grow tents 1x1x1m roughly 250W HPS & MH kit 600W HPS & MH kit Who's got the best HPS systems these days, I've been looking at hortilux and growlush, but obviously there are hundreds of brands. What are people using most these days? I know the philips ones are great, but they're damn expensive. Any recommendation for some super cheap tents?

So I have myself a good tent for 'tomatoes' that's about 2 metre tall by 1 metre wide. I've been looking at lights that a) arent those 225 things from China that reak of 'great build quality' reasonably priced I've come across some lights, however need a bit of advice on the wattage/price and the type of light, To my general understanding, more wattage= more coverage/ slightly better yield However I must take into account the size and coverage of the light and costing. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2013-240W-LED-Grow-Light-10-Spectrums-IR-Indoor-Hydroponic-System-Plant-Ufo-Hot-/261216390610?pt=AU_Seed_Starting_Hydroponics&hash=item3cd1b5cdd2 is a 240w full spec…

Gday all I think I already know my answer. But here goes my tent is 1.4 by 1.4 by 2.4 I have 1 4 inch fan pulling air out from top another 6 inch fan attached to my vented hood that I have some ducting connected to suck hot air from under the light and beside tops of plant. My intake is 4 inches down low. My temps get up to 31 with door closed but if I open it half way I get temps down to 27.5 degrees. So I'm thinking I need a bigger intake would this be correct

I have searched the growing forums about this and it seems no one knows really how it works. I found some info about how much co2 is produced by yeast, and found some awesome yeasts at the homebrew shop. Basically you get about 1/2 co2 for every 1 of sugar fermented under ideal conditions. This means that with startup, and finishing not being ideal, you get about 1/3 co2 per 1 of sugar. For example, 3 kilos of sugar makes about 1 kilo of co2. Wow, huh? i bet you didnt think it was that much, and if you want huge amounts you can get "turbo yeast" which will convert 6 kilos of sugar in 24 hours. Thats 2 kilos of co2 in 24 hours! And the drum will be about 20% alcohol.…

hey guys im a bit of a newb when it comes to "technology" i have only ever ran old technology magnetic ballast so i have a question, in my 1x1m tent i feel i need more light so i have the master plan of running a bigger light on my next run i was thinking of going with a magnetic 600w light but than i thought i should ask before hand, will i be better off going with a 400w digital ballast on super lumens, 600w magnetic light or even a 1000w digital nanolux light dimmed to 50% which will be 500watts of course if i was to go the 1000w HPS dimmed at 50% does it put off much more heat than the 400w HPS? i have never owned a digital dimmable ballast before and i have never…

Hopefully you guys and gals can help me out. I've just aquired a cupboard (2m high , 1metre wide , 600mm deep) I need a bit of help decking it out, I realise there are other sections for some of my questions but I would rather have only one thread so as not to confuse my self. Okay, first up, how many plants could fit in this cupboard? I am hoping at least 3 (the seeds genetics are sativa dominant) but I have seen a thread mention a 3foot by 3foot and 7foot high cupboard could grow 9 2-2.5foot high plants, which seems like too many? I keep seeing both HPS and LED lights being suggested. For 3 plants I was thinking of using a 250watt HPS, 400watt seems a bit more risky…
