Just popped over to nearest Target store. They have these light bulbs, cannot remember the exact name, what I did notice is nowhere did it say if it was a Incadescent or Fluro, but they were in with the fluro-section. Other things I remember reading off the cover was lasts 800hrs, and 15watt = 75watt ( or bigger ones were 20watt = 100watt ) Does this mean their output is 100watt's ??? No lumens info anywhere on it, and they look like the CF I saw at Bunnings except bunnings had the distinctive two types...the inca and fluro. Their biggest fluro was 23watt for $25 and they said it put out 1000Lum's per light, which dont sound like much. So does anyone out there know if t…

....so please feel free to move it if it's in the wrong forum. Okay, so I'm having some trouble with my electricity supply for my grow. We have a surging supply problem, particularly because we live in an old house, and the shitty timer which I use for the lights are those cheap, 1/2hr increment pin timers? This means that the other, more expensive timer which I have, a digital one, keeps on resetting and losing it's memory when the lights are going on or off. Now, this isn't deadly surging or anything, but the manual says that could be the problem, as it's a recharging battery inside. So, I know that you can get surge protector powerboards, but is there a cheaper, or…

hey, Depending on your requirements for the light is to what system you use to hang it....If it is to be moved up and down it either needs chains or wire with a pulley system... to go side to side and up and down is slightly different Needs A large hook to hang from room/panda frame 1 or 2 pulley/eyebolt systems One or two cleates or tieoff points 3 U bolt wire clamps Length of wire (plastic coated displayed) Assemble as shown in pic ( two screws and wingnuts bottom right to atttach light shade) If you want to slide the light aswell as move it up and down..Attach wire directly to light by wire clamp.. slide complete metal ring or wire over panda frame.…

Hi all... I'm growing in a double wardrobe of dimensions 1200mm wide x 500mm deep x 1750mm high. As I'm doing a growool multi clone scrog, I'm wondering if a light rail may be a good investment. As it stands, the 400w son-t agro lamp is in the middle of the roof, and I get good coverage, but I know that the amount of light hitting the plants on the edge of the room will be less than those directly under it. The question is, how much? So are there any cheap light rails out there of around or less than a meter long? And would this make a substantial difference? Are there any other methods I could use to expand the light getting to the outer plants? I have panda fi…

Hey i have a few questions on lighting. I have been looking over at http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/nutriflo/light.htm and i am wondering some questions on lighting hopefully you could answer 1 - Out of the light kits there what do u suggest for a 400w and 600w kit ? 2 - What do u get in a lighting kit what parts ? 3 - Out of the lighting reflectors what would be the best for a good fit in a cupboard to make it compact i was thinking a lobay or a manta 600 what do u think ? 4 - To complement any horizontal reflector, the patented Heat Shield - Would this cool the light down too much and take the lighting off my plants? 5 -Manta 600 Light Reflector - Would t…

Well I will be setting up a closet grow very soon and i was going to buy a 400w HPS but I really want a 600w because im only gonna do 1-2 harvests before I get a room going. But i cannot really afford to buy a 600w, I CAN afford a 600w ballast ($145) and light socket ($30) and a bulb ($60-$90) but a reflector would blow my budget. So i had this great idea, I could get a piece of wood the same dimensions as the roof of my closet then paint it white or put some panda film or what ever on it and i would just make my room higher as the plants grew.... Im probably not explaining this very well I'll make a diagram in a minute.... Would this work aswell as a reflector? I…

I just saw a reference to one of those outdoor type spotlights (500w) apparantly someone was using them to grow with. The one with the long pencil sized/shaped bulb. I know someone who does this, and seems pretty happy with the results. They only use the light for veg growing, and it is apparantly a metal halide light, a tungsten halide. The light costs about 30 or 40 bucks and seems like it is worth it for the results. i don't know the details about electricity use, or their bill costs etc etc. This guys plants are in soil and seem to grow between 8 and 12 inches a week. Anyway in the ref I mentioned the light was criticised as not to good. I was actually thi…

Hi guys, Kinda new here, and glad Ive found a good informative aussie site. My query is how the hell u spose to hook up the fluros to electricity. Ive just bought 2 x twins (36watt each) and being naive I expected them to come with a simple power lead u hook up to the wall.... Looks like these suckers were made to sit on the ceiling of a room, and when it comes to wiring I have no idea. Any suggestions/pointing me in the right direction, would be great guys!! I just want to get the veg-area under way since they have started to pop up.
