Perhaps the most compelling reason so many Australians believe Schapelle Corby is innocent is the "selling sand to the arabs" argument: why would anyone smuggle marijuana to Bali when everyone knows it's so easy to get there? While drugs might seem freely available on the streets, the foreigners who live in Bali, including those serving time in Kerobokan jail, say that buying them is a very risky business because you never know if the seller is an undercover police officer or a police informer. For that reason, westerners in Bali are prepared to pay premium prices for marijuana if they can get it from other Westerners, as that's the best way to ensure they are not goi…

Its amusing (and disappointing) to listen to people reasoning as to why weed should be illegal. The usual argument is either: a ) "Its illegal!" or b ) "Its bad for you!" Both of which i think are pretty weak. Being illegal isn't cause for something to be illegal, and there are a lot of things worse for you than a bit of weed (ciggarettes to take the obvious example). Those arguments are usually countered by: "Its different!", "ok...how?" at which point they usually freeze and change subject What reasons have you heard while talkin to people about the legality of cannabis?

Have 5 plants in a back room of the house I am living with. My roomate and I are doing it together 50/50. (Known him 8 years, lived with him for 8 yrs so its not a just met him kind of thing) I have a problem. He wants to get fans and A/C installed for summer, fair enough, he owns the house, so he's getting an electricion to come over and quote then install em. The guy won't actually need to go in the room but i'm worried about the fact that he will be in the roof and the outlet exhaust goes up there. One of the fans being installed is the room directly next to the grow room. I've pleaded with him to not have the electrician come over till its all flowered, dried and …

I just am about to go home (Queenland) from a holiday and I bought this really good cheap as water pipe(7.95) from some asain store and I was wondering if I would get into any trouble if I put it in my suitcase for when I go home. It will just be a domestic flight and I was wondering if I could get into any trouble at all if some x-ray dude saw it. It hasn't been used at all and is clean as a whistle. I was also wondering if the laws are different in Qld than in any other places. Any help would be most apreciated Wez

Media Alert 15th December 2005 Stuart Highway refuses prison drug-test A Darwin activist may have to ride out the remainder of his sentence in a "punishment cell" at the infamous Berrimah Prison. Berrimah Prison inmate Stuart Highway has been labelled an โidentified drug userโ (IDU) for refusing to provide a urine sample to prison officers earlier this week. Stuart, presently serving a three-month sentence for charges arising from his involvement in an October 2002 drug law-reform rally, refused to give the required 60mil sample on Monday during a random drug-test. He said he could face 28 daysโ in the "punishment cells". "They havenโt issued me with any pap…

Hey guys I've been busted. I'll let you all know how it goes in this thread, but heres the down low.. Couple days ago 3 young men, one armed with a shotgun, attempted to break into my house, around 2am. I was roused by the sound of the front door window breaking and when i confronted them at the front door, they ran (I was holding a samurai sword and a filthy look). Since i wasnt dressed I didn't purse them past the front of the house, however one of them shot a small caliber shotgun shell at the house (probably a 4/10). This of course attracted the attention of the police.....called by my neighbours, naturally.. The police came, searched the house with my consent (…

Recorded this doco off SBS a while, its pretty interesting, shows how the laws came to be, and which assholes were responsible. From the info page: "Grass is a documentary which argues for the decriminalisation of marijuana while telling a history of the weed - from a strictly North American viewpoint. Director Ron Mann argues that government opposition to pot was originally racist in origin (it was smoked by Mexican labourers) and that billions have been spent trying to stop the unstoppable." SBS Page EDIT: heres the Producers Page Leech the torrent from here. Ive only got 64Kb up, but hopefully some international peers should be finished soon. ps. I know its…

by Brian C. Bennett You Can't Tell the Players Without a Scorecard If you want to win a war, you generally need two things: a plan, and an army. If you have a great army, but no coherent plan, you likely will not prevail. Likewise, if you have a great plan but your army stinks, then you're not likely to prevail either. Obviously then, to "win" the drugwar means we'll need a great army and a great plan. I've been asking some of the leaders in drug law reform over the past several years where I can find the gameplan so I can help more effectively. I don't get any replies -- because there simply is no plan. There is, however, a growing army assembling for the effort (a…

I just received this in my mailbox... Media Alert 30th October 2005 Parliament Invaders set to appeal conviction Three members of the NT chapter of the Network Against Prohibition (NAP) will appear before the full bench of the Northern Territory Supreme Court tomorrow to appeal against their conviction for invading the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly on 14th May 2002. Stuart Highway (currently in Darwin Prison for his involvement in a NAP-organised drug law-reform protest), Robert Inder-Smith and Gary Meyerhoff will appear before the Court of Appeal at 10am tomorrow to make their arguments. The trio were part of a group of NAP activists who invaded the…

Hey guys and girls, I was just wondering where the 'best' place to use and grow marijuana receational in Australia would be. I have read the laws regarding the states, but i dont seem to understand some parts of them. I was under the impression that in SA you could grow one plant legally (i.e If cops were to search your house you could tell them kindly to fuck off etc). I am currently in NSW and know the laws a pretty strict round here, but how about everywhere else. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know the legal implications of being caught with possession of mj seeds in QLD? I remember eating a seed once and I never got high - so technically/legally I don't think they can or should be considered a drug! So how does the legal system get around that if they prosecute for being in possession of something which is essentially completely harmless? Eg Do they fine you? Eg one seed = $10 fine, 2 seeds = $15 fine (discounted) etc Can they actually imprison people just for having seeds/ Eg 100 seeds = 100 days jail time! Does anyone know the QLD mj seed laws?

The things you do when your 'medicated' and bored: I decided to do some research and play around with the figures to see if we can get someone to represent us in parliament. I made the figures pretty conservative (mainly used government figures) as I didn't want to exaggerate. Also decided to extrapolate to see the size of the pot economy in Oz. What you think guys? Are my figures valid? What would 12,500 kilos be worth? population of Australia (NSW) = 20,479,500 (6,750,000) voting population - aged over 18 years old (NSW) = 15,362,700 (5,048,511) percentage of cannabis users in general population aged over 18 years old = 11.3% total number of cannabis users aged ove…

Just posted for general interest. For those who remember Micheal D Robinson of Drug Free Australia, check out the second last paragraph - I am personally disturbed that such an abject fool as Micheal gets $200,000 a year for the next 3 years. ----------------

Most people do not realize that the prohibition of Cannabis comes forth from the ethnic cleansing that started with the inquisition. The reason for this is that Cannabis was (and still is) a religious sacrament for most (ancient) cultures who were Shamanistic by nature and did not want to confirm to Christianity and according to the Bible those cultures had to be wiped out and their altars and scriptures had to be burned. During the Inquisition cannabis was declared Illegal by pope Innocenty (I believe number IV) and anyone who practised the 'old ways' was murdered. For centuries the western European world was ruled by (Christian) Rome and during those times history h…
