Having buds hanging around drying in free air for a couple of weeks is a bit of a security/scent problem for me. The place started to smell like a dope factory. Had to work out a way to dry quicker and with less scent, without sacrificing quality. I investigated using commercially made food dehydrators but some quick research indicated that their usual op temp of ~38-70C (100-160F) would break down THC, which begins to degrade at 29C. Food dehydrators are also often rather small unless you buy the most expensive units. None but the very most expensive dehydrators for commercial kitchens (~$5000) had sealed doors and flanges for exhaust air ductwork. One could modify …

since i harvested recently i decided to have some fun with the curing and add a little flavour. I have done it in the past using vanilla essence which worked great, but i was only able to cure those buds for about a week before i ran out of other buds and went nuts on the great tasting stuff anyways this time round im going to be using both vanilla and chocolate essence to cure my buds as well as doing a normal cure just incase it goes to shit. so far the buds with the added flavouring have had about a week to cure and are getting pretty smelly. the vanilla buds in the smaller glass jar with the blue label are smelling incredible which is probably in part due to s…

I have a bit of a problem with drying and curing times. Reading around a bit, it looks like most people recommend drying for about 2-4 weeks and then cure for another 4-12 weeks. I read at a few places that the harvest is considered to be dry when you can easily snap a twig between two fingers. Well, that's where my problem starts: This usually happens after about a week! Does that mean the plant is dry enough for curing? I don't want to get them mouldy or anything. On the other hand, quite often when you buy some pot, it is bloody wet as. Actually it is sometimes so wet that you can't smoke it in a joint properly and I usually end up spreading it out in a dry dark …

I have gone through another set of scales...doh! Every time I take them in the car they stop working - period. I have been using the cheap ones from eBay etc, but I used to use Tanita back in the day. The Tanita never got damaged when they were hauled around in the car so I assume that I should get some better 0.01 scales. What are other peeps using and what are the top brands today? Jimbo

Hello fellow tokers, This is my first post since i became a member about a month and a half ago. The site has proven to be a big eye opener for me and has let me deal with all the problems have had to encounter as i have endeavored to achieve a successful winter grow outdoors! Yes it is my first grow ever and i am very inpatient and just sew the seeds and see wat would happen. I occassionally take road trips with my mates down to the beautiful nimbin but this time i thought i would take advantage of the usual bagseed you get out of the deals you bye there. The grow started at my mates it little pots for about a month then was transported outd…

Well hasn't the rain been just great? Great for ruining buds that is! I went to harvest my guerilla grow today (just a bagseed plant for fun). I would have liked to leave it a week or two but seein as we are entering perfect mould weather, the time has come for harvest. The recent heavy rain has managed to pound the shit out of my plant, and weigh it down with moisture. With the buds being so close to the ground, the heavy rain has splashed mud over the buds which has now dried (the mud). Some buds are O.K, but the rest I suppose I should try to water cure as that may remove the mud. It just so happens that the largest and best buds were the ones that copped …

Why do we trim leaves? Well I reckon that it stems from the past when we used to say to the dealer// "What? You want all that money for leaf?!" and he'd say "but it is head leaf" hmm OK it is really because of the tannins present. Have you ever tried to smoke tea? So what do you do with your trimmings? I make tea out of mine. Which parts do I smoke? https://cannabis.community.forums.ozstoners...&pid=193260 If you want to see that image more clearly.. PM me

Hey all, Attempting to dry my first grow. A bit of a botched job all round, but I think I've learned heaps. ;-) Anywho, one of the plants I have hanging up for 2 weeks now , I was in the process of sticking it in jars and noticed that in places the leaves are dark brown and when i touch that part of the plant it releases a white powder. Other parts of the plant are fine. So what have I done? Should I just toss the brown bits and keep the green bits? Cheers
