What are the best scales to weigh with?

I have gone through another set of scales...doh!

 

Every time I take them in the car they stop working - period.

 

I have been using the cheap ones from eBay etc, but I used to use Tanita back in the day.

 

The Tanita never got damaged when they were hauled around in the car so I assume that I should get some better 0.01 scales.

 

What are other peeps using and what are the top brands today?

Only have ever had to buy one... and have only had to replace the batts once.

maybe its the heat in the car

i know the diect sunlight is no good for LCD screens

And bumping doesn't help. Killed a set by dropping only 30cm once....

It could be heat - it's not dropping them or bumping because I'm very careful with them and pad all around them.

 

Are the Tanita model 1479V 0.01 or 0.1? I can see them on the net but they look like 0.1?

depends on what youre weighing... me.. i need a set of scales they use to weigh wool bales.. i just grow that much.. for personal use of course..

 

if its just ounces then a scale that just shows grams is fine.. after all a few points here and there isnt really going to matter a real lot..

 

i used to have a set of the black tanita scales.. damn good scales those.. but for around 300$ a set.. they are little excessive.. mainly these are used for powders.. only weighed upto 100 grams..

 

ive got a decent set of kitchen scales.. accurate for 200grams.. weighs in 1 gram increments.. perfect for ounces.. cost me 200$.. of course a cheap set from the supermarket would be fine too..

I do have those at my place too...but I'm not quite in that league - they are used for stockfeed. You sure do smoke a lot SS...

i just bought new scales from a housewares shop brand name D-line weights up tp 5kg goes up in 1gram increments

 

like SS says perfect for ounces

tanita all the way awesome scales i had a couple of pairs that lasted me 5 years and were still working when they got pinched those scales were well and truely over worked and still stood up to it

tanita are worth the cash... even though you could buy 20 from ebay for same cash they are worth it.. some $2 shops have the batteries or ten bucks from watch shops... mine have been on low battery for 6 months but still work anyhow
