HOMES in south-west Sydney, where police have seized $15 million in marijuana during raids, may be part of an elaborate hydroponic growing network. Since April police have discovered 5000 marijuana plants growing in almost a dozen houses. Detective Inspector Gus Viera, head of the Wetherill Park region enforcement squad, said detectives had not ruled out a connection between the houses. "Investigations into any possible link are ongoing," he said. The most recent raids, on November 7, netted 415 hydroponically grown cannabis plants worth an estimated $2 million from two houses in Rawson Road, Fairfield West. A man and woman were charged. The raids were part of…

The father sold the hard-to-get Guitar Hero III video game he bought his son for Christmas at an online auction, fetching the sky-high price from an Australian buyer. The sale took place after the father spent two weeks searching for the video game for his son's Nintendo Wii. “So I was so relieved in that I had finally got the Holy Grail of Christmas presents pretty much just in the nick of time. roadside testing......what's the truth? 1 2
by Rocker- 12 replies

This query is about testing for THC in saliva. I have read where around 4 hours after use THC wont be detected in a saliva test. I wonder how much truth is in this statement? If the genuine aim is to detect only impaired drivers then I hope that after 4-6 hours any cannabis user would test negative. If cannabis was smoked say between 10 and 11pm at night is it likely you are safe to drive at 7am the next morning. Any thoughts would be appreciated. BTW I'm in Qld where roadside testing started today; Dec 1. I heard on the news that one in twelve are testing positive in early results. It wasn't stated what they were testing positive to.

ABOUT 60 per cent of Aborigines smoke marijuana regularly and most of those get stoned every day, a Northern Territory study shows. New figures on cannabis rates among indigenous people show a drug use rate far higher than the Australian average, with researchers saying it is "firmly entwined" in the society. Researchers at James Cook University in Cairns and the University of Sydney surveyed 164 people in Arnhem Land in 2006 and found 61 per cent of men and 58 per cent of women used cannabis at least weekly. In-depth interviews with 60 users found that 92 per cent of the men and 78 per cent of the women smoke it daily, according to the study published in the Medica…

Do plants respond to music?
by sydneyguy- 8 replies

Almost every one has heard about experiments and theories on plants and music. On Tuesday night I saw a new episode? of Myth Busters that did the plants and music test. They set up identical green houses (GH's) on a roof top factory and played through tape recording hard core thrash (Pantera? etc), classical, human abuse , human 'love' messages and a 'control' green house which was left on its own 'natural' devices. They played through recordings to avoid entering the GH's and to keep even human CO2 levels even. THey grew about 10 seedlings of 'bush beans' (must be yank term ?!) and left them in the GH's for 30 days. After 30 days they pulled all the plants out and weig…

Where opium poppies used to colour the plains of northern Afghanistan, towering cannabis plants now sway in the wind, filling the air with their pungent odour. Farmers in Balkh province were banned from cultivating opium last year and have switched to another cash crop, a rich source of income that is still tolerated by the authorities. Balkh's burgeoning hashish industry does not pay farmers quite as much as the heroin factories used to for good-quality opium. But the rich black cannabis resin produced around the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif still pays about four times the price…

Hi, I've been smoking the stuff for 26 years, I'm an artist, sure I could draw before as well, but I have to admit that after this long, I am addicted. I draw pictures, make and invent things that most people are amazed by. In the small-ish community I live in, I've become very useful, well liked and relied upon. I've just lived through the most frustrating week of my life (and believe me I've been through some stuff), smoking calms my nerves and switches off the daily dramas so that I can make what I'm doing work. I've never been involved in an accident, have evaded heaps that weren't my fault except one, and what can you do when you're waiting at the stop sign and the…

Hi everybody This week once more, I would like to bring your attention to the Canadian Courts. There have been three very important cases from across the Country that have made headlines because of their connection to cannabis. One out in Vancouver, British Columbia involving the Victoria Island Compassion Society and two of their growers who were charged with trafficking cannabis is just tragic. Part way through the Trial the Judge involved died of a heart attack! Now the VICS has a much bigger problem on their hands I'm afraid. Our Conservative Government seems to rear it's ugly head again.
