A 28-year-old man from Gunnedah in New South Wales has been arrested as part of a massive police operation to close down a group they believe responsible for an interstate drug ring. Shannon Bree was arrested by officers from Strike Force Corkscrew after a six month covert operation involving police in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and New South Wales. The 28-year-old is charged with supplying a commercial quantity of cannabis and has been remanded in custody until February. Drugs found at prison officer's home 23dec03 A QUEENSLAND prison officer has been suspended on full pay after drugs were allegedly found at his home. The officer, who works in a southeast Queensland jail, was charged earlier this month with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, a Corrective Services Department spokesman said. He was remanded to appear in the Brisbane Magistrate's Court on January 22. The officer has been on annual leave and has not been on duty since police laid the charges.

More than half of all British adults believe sale and possession of cannabis should be decriminalised or even legalised, according to a new survey. A YouGov poll for The Daily Telegraph found 28 per cent favoured decriminalising the drug, making it a minor offence, such as parking in the wrong place, while 23 per cent wanted full legalisation. More than 100 cannabis plants and 470 grams of processed cannabis with a street value of nearly $250,000 was found during a weekend police raid on a storage shed at Nimbin in northern New South Wales. Police say a complex hydroponics set-up was also found during the raid on the Nimbin Industrial Estate. N a pre-planned operation, Murray Bridge police and CIB officers raided a cannabis crop worth more than one million dollars, 20 kilometres south-east of Yumali yesterday afternoon. No-one was arrested, but numerous forensic samples were taken from the scene. The crop was located in heritage scrub, a section of land farmers are not allowed to clear.
