More than half of all British adults believe sale and possession of cannabis should be decriminalised or even legalised, according to a new survey. A YouGov poll for The Daily Telegraph found 28 per cent favoured decriminalising the drug, making it a minor offence, such as parking in the wrong place, while 23 per cent wanted full legalisation. Again, more than half (52 per cent) applauded Home Secretary David Blunkett's move to downgrade cannabis from a Class B drug to Class C. Only 43 per cent believed selling or possessing the drug should remain a criminal offence. The survey found, though, that 44 per cent regard cannabis as "seriously addictive" - but 75 per c…

N a pre-planned operation, Murray Bridge police and CIB officers raided a cannabis crop worth more than one million dollars, 20 kilometres south-east of Yumali yesterday afternoon. No-one was arrested, but numerous forensic samples were taken from the scene. The crop was located in heritage scrub, a section of land farmers are not allowed to clear. Murray Bridge CIB Detective Senior Constable Darren Niblett said the crop was "reasonably large" for the area, with more than 500 plants. "It was quite difficult to spot, and unless you were doing a grid search of the area in a helicopter, you would have missed it," Detective Senior Constable Niblett said. "It was a similar siz…

Hey, Does anyone think Bob Carr will start his announced medical cannabis trial before he loses office? I suspect the Liberals/Nats will bury it if they get in next time.

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1484526/2...?headlines=true Art Garfunkel can add one more herb to the pungent foursome "parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme" that he and partner Paul Simon sang about in the '60s. The 62-year-old singer, one half of folk duo Simon and Garfunkel, was busted for pot, according to a New York State Police spokesperson. Garfunkel was riding alone in a limousine when a state trooper pulled the vehicle over for speeding at 12:20 p.m. on Saturday in Hurley, New York, 55 miles southwest of Albany. The officer claimed he smelled marijuana inside the car, and while searching the vehicle, the driver and Garfunkel, found a small amount of pot in th…

My Dad began the new year by commenting on my plants and handing me a clipping from The Advertiser Friday, Juanuary 9, 2004 (p21) - yes, full page. I don't live with my parents, I'm well, well over 18. I don't read this newspaper because I don't trust it (and I think newspapers use a lot of paper). Can anyone comment on the article or on the ownership structures of these papers. Are they reputable ? Here is The Advertiser. I couldn't work out how to find the article text, entitled "Dancing with the deadly weed". My father believes everything he reads in the paper and this is a one paper town (or country, perhaps). I'd like to know if he's being fed bullshit. Thank…

There was a story on Today this morning about this article in The Bulletin. So I thought I'd dig it up to see what it said.... http://bulletin.ninemsn.com.au/bulletin/Ed...A256E1B00040E1C STONED WARRIORS Darwin's Robertson Barracks is home to some of Australia's finest frontline troops – it's also home to a festering drug culture with dangerous links to organised crime, Paul Toohey reports. A removalist sent to collect the belongings of a rifleman making an unscheduled exit from army life at Darwin's Robertson Barracks was stunned by just how little the soldier owned. "He had bugger-all," said the removalist. "After six years in the army, he had nothing to show …

(BTW, I'm aware that most of you are aussie, I was asked to post on here by one of your compatriots, and the UK could use your help) The following story was posted on the BBC web site (and presumably regional tv). The story contains the implication that 'cannabis addiction' led a man to shoot his neighbour in a dispute. Although the story acknowledges that the police found the man in a drunken coma, this is seen as a mark on his character and not the primary driver of the incident. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/...ire/3399805.stm This is a lie. We cannot and will not allow *our* public broadcaster to promote ignorance about cannabis. If you're serious about w…

Geocities: The Digital Genesis
In the bustling digital streets of the late '90s, Yahoo Geocities stood out as a haven for burgeoning online communities. It was here, amidst this digital renaissance, that OZ Stoners planted its foundational roots. This marked the dawn of a space that would go on to become synonymous with Australian cannabis culture.
Navigating the Digital Tempests
On its journey, OZ Stoners faced formidable challenges. Between Yahoo's unpredictability and the unexpected anti-cannabis stance of titans like Meta, steering the ship required a blend of adaptability, tenacity, and foresight.
A Hiatus and the Phoenix's Ascent
Come 2022, OZ Stoners entered a period of unplanned dormancy, lasting a challenging 12 months. But, reminiscent of the legendary phoenix, this hiatus was transformed into an opportunity for rebirth. The platform underwent comprehensive upgrades, server enhancements, and a revitalising overhaul. As it emerged, it did so with a phoenix-like rise, soaring higher and brighter, dedicated to serving the community with even more zeal and purpose.
Ode to the Trailblazers
The tapestry of OZ Stoners is woven with the dedication and vision of its founding members. Their relentless drive and contributions have been the bedrock of its success. While many of these pioneers continue to shape its direction, we pause to honor those trailblazers we've lost over time. Their indomitable spirit continues to inspire and resonate within the cannabis community. - Memorial Hall
