In the quiet countryside just outside Vancouver, B.C. an ambitious young entrepreneur surveys a blindingly bright room filled with lovely plants--dozens of stalks of high-power marijuana. Almost ready for harvest, they hold threadlike, resin-frosted pot flowers, rust-and-white "buds" thickening in a base of green-and-purple leaves. The room reeks of citrus and menthol, a drug-rich musk lingering on fingertips and clothes. "There's no way I won't make a million dollars," says the entrepreneur, David (one-name sources throughout this story are pseudonymous). He runs several other sites like this one, reaping upwards of $80,000 in a ten-week cycle. Says he: "Even if they …

I keep getting a strange effect on my pc, where it changes my internet settings. It makes it so when I start up the pc, and open internet explorer, it tells me I haven't got a connection! Then I open internet tools, connections, and my connection box is ticked as "never dial a connection" instead of the normal "always dial a connection"... why does this keep switching back to the never dial one every now and again....? It's an easy fix of course, but it's really got me stumped as to what might be doing it... I recently installed ICQ, but I'm not sure if this is the culprit... if anyone can advise me on why my computer doesn't want me to connect out to the internet, pl…

SYDNEY'S first cannabis clinic will be established to help heavy users quit the drug and curb its use by young people, the NSW government announced today. NSW Special Minister of State John Della Bosca said the clinic, aimed to help people highly dependent on cannabis, is part of a $2.4 million state government program. The clinic, to be set up in Parramatta, is the flagship for more planned on Sydney's west and south, the NSW central coast and central west. Mr Della Bosca said the latest government initiative highlighted the serious health consequences of cannabis use, particularly to young people. Britain's most senior coroner is warning that hundreds of young people are dying in accidents caused by their prolonged use of cannabis. Hamish Turner, the president of the Coroners' Society, said that the drug, which is often portrayed as harmless, has increasingly been behind deaths that have been recorded as accidents or suicides. In the past year, he estimated that cannabis was a significant contributory factor in about 10 per cent of the 100 cases that he had dealt with in south Devon, where he works. Conversations with his colleagues led him to believe that the scale of the problem elsewhere in the country was equally bad. "Cannabis is as dangerous as any oth…

marijuana and anxiety levels 1 2

I've been a regular smoker for nearly a year now (previous use was scattered and rare), and I've definately paid a price for it. I've found that, not only are my anxiety levels increasing, but I'm finding it harder and harder to experience new situations, I'm withdrawing into my own mind too often. I've always been a quiet and shy person, and ever since I learnt enough about myself to understand, I've been trying to be more confident, and build more self-esteem. As much as I love my weed, I think it is the worst thing for me right now! I know I should stop smoking, or at least reduce my intake. I don't smoke very much, but only because I don't need much to get stoned. I…

Paracetamol overdoses need study http://ninemsn.com.au/ Paracetamol poisoning is common in Australasia and not enough is being done to minimise its effects, a new study has found. The survey of emergency departments in Australia and New Zealand found varied responses to cases of Paracetamol overdose, which can cause permanent liver damage or death. The study by two New Zealand doctors was published in the latest issue of the journal of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine. The director of emergency medicine at Austin Health in Victoria, Associate Professor George Braitberg, said the results of the study were worrying. "Paracetamol toxicity is a well-r…

Authors Stepanov GS. Sytnik VP. Title [ineffectiveness of the back cross method in selecting hemp for heterosis]. [Russian] Source Tsitologiia i Genetika. 12(5):424-7, 1978 Sep-Oct. Abstract In the back crossings the heretability caused by the additive effect of the genes predominates. The selection on the characters controlled by the additive genes leads to the homozygosis increase of the population and to the reduced vitality of the plants. The repeated crossing of the heterozygous hybrid plants with the parental form homozygous according to the recessive gene increases the quota of the genes of the latter. It results in the intermediate type of inheritance for al…

GOOSE CREEK--As police struggled to calm a growing firestorm over their drug raid at Stratford High School, state investigators Friday began probing why officers charged into a crowded hallway with guns drawn while students cowered in fear. After watching a surveillance videotape of the Wednesday raid, Solicitor Ralph Hoisington asked the State Law Enforcement Division to look into possible police misconduct in the operation. He called for the probe after consulting with Berkeley County Sheriff Wayne DeWitt. "I don't think there's anything wrong at all with law enforcement addressing a problem in a high school, but I have serious concerns about the need for restrainin…
