No no no. I have given up both drugs. Nicotine was hell; absolute torture to quit. Had to use patches ultimately. Cannabis on the other hand was incredibly easy. I often have breaks (one lasted 5 years) and am always amazed at how easy it is to quit. The only problems I had was a difficulty sleeping on the first night. I would love to see the details of this one. 12 subjects who were cannabis and tobacco users? hmmmm EDIT oops forgot to provide link http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/news/world...2090362518.html

When reading about the biochemical effects of smoking a cone in a paper by the D.E.A. It said that within the first 30 minutes and for about 30 minutes you will have an increased heart rate and an increased respiration rate which would then settle back to normal. I have been told by medical health care professionals that cannabis is a Mood enhancing chemical (not narcotic) I then wondered about whether some people might confuse the increased pulse and respiration with the flght or flight reaction, and become paranoid trying to figure why their bodies felt that way when there was no threat, with the mood enhancing effects of cannabis added, become paranoid about being …

Cannabis Use, Effect And Potential Therapy For Alzheimer's, MS and Parkinson's Science Daily — Cannabis (marijuana) is the most widely produced plant-based illicit drug worldwide and the illegal drug most frequently used in Europe. Its use increased in almost all EU countries during the 1990s, in particular among young people, including school students. Cannabis use is highest among 15- to 24-year-olds, with lifetime prevalence ranging for most countries from 20--40% (EMCDDA 2006). Recently there has been a new surge in the level of concern about potential social and health outcomes of cannabis use, although the available evidence still does not provide a clear-cut un…

by Jon Gettman High Times, March 1995 In 1970, marijuana was placed on Schedule 1 of the Drug Enforcement Administration's controlled-substances list, largely because scientists feared that, like opiates, it had an extremely high potential for abuse and addiction. But the discovery of THC receptor sites in the brain refutes that thinking, and may force both scientists and the DEA to re-evaluate their positions. INTRODUCTION The next century will view the 1988 discovery of the THC receptor site in the brain as the pivotal event which led to the legalization of marijuana. Before this discovery, no one knew for sure just how the psychoactive chemical in marijuana w…

Straight people my age, kill their pain with perscription drugs, in some cases they are addicted for decades. They argue that the actual smoking of the Cannabis, defeats the purpose of justifying it as a medicinal substance! If you smoked bongs & pipes in the 70's & 80's to kill the pain, any chronic stoner knows that if you made it to the 90's you naturally progressed to the rolling of the spliffs. So long as you exercise and eat well the "smoking" of medicinal herbs is not here nor there, or is it? ........ Is smoking Cannabis (Bush not Hydro) a small price to pay for a natural anti-toxant, anti-inflammatory, anti-biotic, muscle relaxant, etc etc etc?

thanks to chato for finding this one. Sorry if its old news, but its the first time I've seen it. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...2501729_pf.html Study Finds No Cancer-Marijuana Connection By Marc Kaufman Washington Post Staff Writer Friday, May 26, 2006; A03 The largest study of its kind has unexpectedly concluded that smoking marijuana, even regularly and heavily, does not lead to lung cancer. The new findings "were against our expectations," said Donald Tashkin of the University of California at Los Angeles, a pulmonologist who has studied marijuana for 30 years. "We hypothesized that there would be a positive association between marijuana use…

my opinion is very young people should not touch anything until they are mature enough to know and understand what they are doing. i believe dope affects young people health because there are so many of them that have some form of mental illness. I know some of them experiment with other drugs too but i do know of some young people being affected only because they were regular smokers.
