Hi, Can the group give me their opinions on the benefits or otherwise of placing one's flowering plants from lights to directly into the sun for a few hours each day. I can put them out for say 4hrs around noon. This would be after a few hours under HPS, ( thanks AL.B.Fuct ) ..Then for the last few hours of the 12/12, they would be back under the light. Would those few hours in the direct summer sun hurt any development or potency due to the different spectrum?

hi all! i'm starting my first indoor grow in a 60x60x120 (0.36m2) grow box. i did all the construction work and it's ready to go but i'm having trouble deciding whether to use a 150 or 250w hps. i will use fluoros for earlier stages of vegetation and then switch to hps later. i want to have 2 (or three if possible) plants in the box, and will probably be using lst method. the 150w has 17000 lumens and the 250w 31000 lumens. i was advised to use the 250, but it seems too much to me. is it, or should i go with the 250? is there such a thing as too much light? thanks, jose

hey im just starting my first grow but im not sure where to put it. Im planning on using a 400w HPS with the plants just in a mix of dirt/perlite. I have a cupboard i could use but im a little worried about the smell. I thought the garden shed would be perfect because none of my housemates have a key and it would mean no smells would e lingering around the house. The shed is about 3m by 3m by 1.8m high. Does anyone have any advice for what type of ventilation im going to need? if possible i'd like to keep it to a minimum as im renting and i dont think the landlord would appreciate it if i started cutting ventilation holes in the shed.

I have woken twice now to find my 600W HPS turned off - or rather - trying to ignite itself, the bulb flickering. The first time I found the cord going into the ballast was loose but this morning it was in tight and the light had died sometime in the last 3 hrs. any ideas? Jimbo

I'm looking for a few of these but in 240v - but I can't find any in Oz, and I have found that a 30amp in Oz is limited to 2400w. So can anyone suggest where to look? 50amp is better, but a few 30amp boxs will do the job. 30 amp Timer Box 30 amp Timer BoxPOWER CORD: 1 - 30 Amp Dryer Cord BREAKERS: 1 - 20 Amp Breaker 240 volt 1 - 10 Amp Breaker 120 volt RECEPTACLES: 4 - 240 volt Receptacles (supplies up to 4 - 1000 watt light systems) 2 - 120 volt Receptacles (supplies accessories such as fans or light movers) EcoPlus DIGITAL TIMER (included with system): # 7-Day Digital Timer # 42 Weekly ON/OFF Settings # 6 Daily ON/OFF Settings # Manual Override # Battery Back-…

Lets start by me declaring that I have very little understanding of how air-conditioners in a grow room work. OK? I'm moving house and the new room has a air conditioner in it. I think you call it a split system (the thin vent on the wall and the big box outside...) anyway...I presume that I can't run this without CO2 injection? yes/No? - and if I did, would it leak the smell from it's exhaust? Is there any way to filter an AC? Here's a pic of the AC details anyway incase it helps...it's in a 3x4m room. Jimbo

Every once in a while, Aldi sells some gensets. They usually have the 850 watt 2-stroke gennies which are OK for reaaaal small loads- will not run a fridge, though. They've gotten a batch of 6.5hp, 4-stroke gens which can do 2kW @ 240V, for only $299. A very similar Genquip branded 6.5hp 2.8kW gennie is in my Farmer Direct catalogue for $649- but it looks suspiciously like the Aldi gen, except the Genquip unit has wheels on its frame. I think the 2.8kW figure is peak output, not continuous. Since RMS ('average') output is ~.707 x peak, the continuous rating should be 1.979kW. Aldi ALWAYS under-orders stuff like this; by the time you read this, they may be sold out. …

Can't afford the cool tubes? Don't want to lose those lumens? Grab yourself a $20 120mm Spectrum Fan and wire it to the hood so it blows cool air over the bulb and around the room, thus dissipating heat and providing a way to lower temps and your lights height. After I attached this one, my temps dropped 8C, so the bulb could come down about 5cm. Jimbo

550mm x 400mm x 1200mm - 2.4 squarefeet Obviously a small space, initially I was researching what it would take to implement a 400watt son-t agro. My research leads me to believe this may not be possible. Also, there seems to be a lack of lower wattage hps lights avaliable in Australia. I would really appreciate some advice regarding lighting/ventilation combo for this space. 1 or 2 plants - first grow. Thanks in advance.

I should have known better but here's what happened. My daughters Mr wanted to learn so he built another box and I put the clones in and gave the girls 36 dark to start flowering about a week ago. The Boy was supposed to have set the timer for 7am -7pm lights on. He STILL hasn't gotten it straight! The lights went off at 6:30 pm and then came on again at 2am, and when they tried to go off at 2pm I had him go and put the lights back on, and get a new digital timer. My dilemma is, I'm second guessing myself. I plan to leave the lights on until 7pm, and then get them back on track... but I wonder if they need a longer dark period maybe 24hrs... what would you all do??? I'…

Hi Guys & Gals, I have a 12" 550Litre/Sec fan with a duct muffler on the exhaust side of the fan. It's almost silent except you can still here the air rushing into the fan intake side. Would a short muffler between the filter and fan silence it?
