Ok guys and girls. I'm just about ready to kick off the next grow, just waiting for the real estate to do their inspection thing, and for some seeds to arrive. I was checking out what ballasts I have just before, and I came up against an old question I've had on my mind for a while but never resolved, and I hope someone here can put me right. I'm going to run one of my 1kwatt lights. But I have two different ballasts, and I wonder which one is better, as in does one draw more power than the other, one more relibale than the other, produce more light than the other..anything measurable between the two which would make one better than the other? Des one run hotter than …

Ok, well I have just finished watching a vid over at YouTube. It was all about UVB and THC and the relationship between the two. Oh, before I forget, here's the link for the vid if anyone is interested. Caution tho, it goes for about 17 minutes. And it got my to thinking how I might try it out on my grow. Apparently UVB is somehow responsible for the production of THC... I have an incandescent UV globe and now I'm planning on adding it to my lighting array when it's time for my babies to flower. Has anyone tried this? Ideas? Feedback? ~Rose.

So im using a brand new set up. 600w digital ballast, along with pulse start metal halides (sun system) from life light tech. These are supposed to be awesome bulbs. But...im having what i think is a problem, you tell me. There is some sort of "flickering" going on. Its very subtle, but you can tell that the bulbs have some flickering and almost color change from red/blue. With the naked eye, its so bright in there that you cant really tell, but with shades on you can really look at the walls and tell there is a flicker. Now should i be worried about this, or has anyone had this and will it stop? The company said that it could be a cheap ballast, but the ballast is bran…

I have it at 80f/26c since i switched to a 600w lamp. I thought i would get a temp increase and sure enough i did. So is this temp ok, or will it be wise to lower it. Good thing is that the humidity dropped from about 60% to about 40% with the increase in heat. thanks - yota

I'm building a grow room in a closet with the dimensions of ( H=4FT W=3FT L=2FT). I'm getting a 400w HPS. What I want to know is how much plants could I fit in this area? and how should I go about ventilation. the area I live in never goes below 70degrees summer time . I live in a high place so the air is always circulating through the main room (knocking over pics etc..). The closet have two swivel doors in front and I have the sightest idea how to vent it, any help will be appreciated....One more thing do I need to vent the area for the veg compartment(I was thinking on using a large rubbermaid green container) ? Thanks for the help

Hey guys, setting up a new grow room/wardrobe wanting some advice on air flow. I will have a 400w HPS running inside a fairly standard sized wardrobe which will be located in my laundry. I was going to have a 300mm exhaust fan running from the top with some ducting up to the already established exaust fan in the laundry. This way I can have a timer on the fan that i want to run from the wardrobe and if it gets really hot then i can manually switch on the laundry fan too.. Just wondering peoples thoughts on this one and if anyone knows where a good place to find ducting is (and fans for the matter). Cheers..
