temprature control

Recommended Posts

its all a matter of extraction and keeping that used air away from the grow room for good. if you can replace the air say every 20 seconds, the room shouldnt get much warmer than the outside temperatures for where you are and so long as you keep that extracted air from re-entering the grow room it should keep the temperature of your room in check

if worse comes to worse, get yourself an air conditioner. you can pick up portable ones for around $350 these days and not only will they lower the temps in your room, they also lower the humidity which means less chance of getting mould :)

A grower recommended another economical trick that he has used before. But it's tedious. Put Dry ice or some ice and water in the room if you really cant get the temps down the correct way.

Without knowing your setup its hard to say. So many factors go into it. Insulation in the walls, proper ventilation, air intake in larger rooms, lamp cooling. Air conditioner is a good idea also.

Airflow will control temps , if its still to hot then you need more airflow ,, you can add enough fans to the point where the temps are the same as the outside ambient air temperature , and thats dependant on how cool it is outside the cooler the less number of fans , for me in summer at night its about 25- 27 average outside , my airflow with 8x400 and 1x1000 running will keep the temps about 33 Celsius , I have 150ml fantech centrif pulling in , 2 X 250ml express airs and a 300ml axiel can pulling out , plus a 200ml passive vent to allow fluctuations of pressure the outside atmosphere creates , some nights its 30 outside and 36-38 in the room , but it always feels and smells fresh in the room even when its hot , the plants will handle very high temps if the air exchange is enough ,,,

Aircons should only be used when extreme humidity is present , if its just to drop temps they are not efficiant for the room unless its like above 35 cel at night or a tin shed in 45deg full sun , most locations fans are better and be used instead of aircons , for the energy used by the aircon could allow more lights and more fans which add to yield ,,,, there are so many variables that go into a room so that that it runs at peak efficiancy , meaning output yield vs input energy X number of plants X cycle a year , every room has a sweet spot where your getting max yield for the power your using with the least number of plants in the shortest possible time ,,,,, but with all the many variables that the grower is concerned with ,,, the most neglected is air exchange , you cannot have too much but you sure can have to little , and it will cause you no end of problems that seem unrelated to air , everything from pythium to slow root growth and nute lock , air fucks with lots of things within the plant and you shoulds never over look it ,,, go into your room when its warmed up and close your eyes ,,,,, smell and breath deeply ,,, is it as fresh as standing outside ? no musty stale smells at all even slightly ? , the best you can have is if your growroom was without a roof on it , so try and get enough air through the room to get as close as you can to having no roof , your plants will thank you for it .

Ive found that a good scale to see where your room is running at is that you should get about 11 to 15 oz for every 400 watts used , averaged over the year not just your very best crop , most good growers generally get this like clockwork .
