Well my first batch of seeds have cracked and they are now nestled in their rockwool cubes about to go under the 600W HPS - can anyone offer some advice on the distance I should place the light away from them? Cabinet is 1x1x2.4 by the way - exhaust system is installed...it was a ripe bitch of a job but works real well. Jimbo

I am interested in hearing peoples opinions and experiences regarding starting seeds under fluros or hps bulbs. I have heard a few people say that fluros give weak stalks and that it's better to throw them straight under a HPS bulb positioned some distance away. I have only ever tried the fluros but wouldn't mind trying it a new way - just don't want to bake my White Russian! I only have a 600W HPS with a china hat - would that be too much? Jimbo

Hi everyone I’m looking for some input You see my plants are fully budding right now, and I want to save them when their done, however I,ve taken “NO” clones Ok Im thinking maybe GIBBERELLIC ACID TREATMENT : Select my favorite female plants and spray some buds to turn them male, Has anyone head of this being done? Ok the other alternative I have is, pull them out of the green house once harvested and put them on lights 18hrs + if anyone has info on this I would greatly appreciate it

Alright, heres the deal. My buddy brought back 3 trainwreck seeds from a trip he went on. One sprouted and im currently growing it. I found out about a week ago that it was male. Ive decided to grow it and make seeds but I only want to pollinate the bottom branches of one of my Skunk females. I know you can put the pollen pods in a plastic bag, put the plastic bag over the branches, and shake, but what I dont know is how to tell when the male pollen is mature. Anyone have any pics, or a way of telling of the male plant is ready? Also, at what stage do I pollinate the female flowers? what do they look like?

At what stage of growth does one take cuttings for clones? Can you take cuttings at any time? If I am trying to time things so that I can finish the flowering of one batch then move new clones in asap how do I time it? What happens if my flowering chamber is full and the clones are ready to be moved? Jimbo

I was just experimenting with cloning a plant in just plain old water, tapwater not even ph-adjusted. I don't mind if the clone dies with no roots, it was just a topping from a plant that was too tall for the lighting. Anyway, I did my usual cut, trimmed off 3 nodes, sliced the base of the stem at 45-degrees and coated in clonex. I then placed it in a glass full of tap-water at room temprature (around 19 celcius). The clone has a ghetto coke-bottle humi-crib and is under 2 x 18w grow-lux fluros along with my other clones. Lighting is 18/6. I should also mention, root-zone temps are around 25 celcius.

I'm setting up a duel chamber affair with side by side veg/flower areas, area 1x1x2.8. 600hps china in each (not bought yet so can be altered - maybe a 400HPS would be better in the veg???), clay/per 30/70, recirculating system same as Luke Skywalkers a simple recirculating hydro setup, 250mm extraction each chamber and intake fans Truncheon meter, digital ph meter, H202, Digital thermometer, CO2 filter, small oscillating fan. Can I ask your advice on some things... 1. What is the optimal PH of the fresh water from the top tank in the recirculating system? (Is it about 5.8 for hydro as compared to soil about 6.4?) 2. Should I germinate seeds in the rockwool str…

Can clones be placed immediately under a HPS light and can they be fed via a recirculating system? Cheers Jimbo

Gday all I'm nearly there, just over a week to go now hopefully? I was just wondering, I would like to keep one of the plants that I harvest as a mum to take clones off mid jan next year. All I know is that I harvest, prune right back leaving 'smaller' or 'lower' buds behind on the stem and turn lights back to 24hr days? What sort of nute strength should one use(weak or normal) during the first few weeks? Thanks for input cheers

just wondering if anyones heard anything about or ever used a cloning machine for taking clones. they use rootless aeroponics spray mist and are fine to use in hydroponic or soil gardening. they reckon they are a 100% success rate in 5 days!!

Hi there How much direct sun should new seedlings get outdoors? It's high 20's on average most days where I am and am uncertain if new seedlings should be getting direct or indirect sunlight, or a mixture of both in the early days.

G'day! I took some clones last week and now they're looking quite sad (Link to photo below). The one on the right is about a week older than the rest and the leaves are turning brown. They're in an esky with a little bit of tap water in the bottom. I spray them a couple of times a day with a weak nute spray (should I be using just plain water?). And I have been keeping a compact fluro on them, probably a bit too close. I initially had glad wrap over the top to keep the humidity in but I removed it after a few days. But I have just put some more back on today to up the humidity. Does any one have any tips to help them perk up? They were looking very healthy for a whi…
