The other day at the Hydro shop I picked up a copy of Maximum Yield Australia, a Indoor Gardening Magazine for the vegie growers! Flicking through it I got to page 8 and saw a write up / advert on Lab Quality Tissue Culture At Home on how to grow mother jars not mother plants!! Has anyone here ever experimented with tissue culture? I found the following site but the down side is the cost of the Super Starts kit!! www.planttc.com This looks like something I might give a go if I can source all of the gear! Let me know your thoughts. Cheers Canaman

I hope someone can help me? I have been trying to grow some seeds and as usuall when I try to do this all I get is one huge stem and then just 4 little leaves at the top! Is there anything I can do to fix this, pruning and so on? Do I just cut them off and see what sprouts? All at the top and bare everywhere else, is this normal or do I just have dud seeds or a badly UNGREEN THUMB? Please help. Thanks..badhabits!

...about outdoor grows and I think what you'd call "training"? If I were to have a grow on a balcony that gets a LOT of sun every day, and were to be growing under a wood/greenscreen contraption, and lets say they reached the "top" of this where they bumped into the greenscreen that was "over" them... Assuming they could still get all the sun and water they needed, would they be ok? Also, what would happen, would they just like, start growin' sideways under it? I knew a fellw up north that grew a huge-ass "tree" almost, he tied it over, it seemed fine... So, thoughts?

Hey I'm really curious about how to make a plant with varrious strains on the one rootstock. Like you see citrus trees with mandarin, oranges limes or whatever; grafted all on one rootstock, I imagine the same can be done with grass can it? I have limited space for parent plants, and if for no other reason than to "store" genes, and be able to reasonably quickly get a particular strain going, without having to go through seed sprouting, selection, culling bla bla bla...Once I've gone through that, why not graft a splice of the plant that was left after all the selection, onto a single vigorous rootstock and "shelve " it for when it's needed? Is this possible without mud…

Okay about to crack them beans but only have five so survival is important. Has anyone used either vitamin B1 (Thiamine) or IBA (Indole Butyric Acid) for germination. The method I will be using is 1. let tap filtered water sit 24hrs 2. add hydrogen peroxide 3. add (one of the above) or just trace elements? 4. soak rockwool cubes 6. ph water, adjust, let sit some more 7. direct sow Brand recommendation would be helpful. say something from bunnings Cheers

Hey Yous, I have seen the ads for international seedbanks in Europe & Canada here on the site, and was wondering what the odds are that such a package would make it through Aussie Customs. In my former life as an American I ordered from Canada several times and had no problem. But then again, I've noticed that here in Oz the Customs Service actually does their job. In the US they make a lot of noise, but generally rely on tough sentences as a deterrent instead of hiring additional customs personnel which would mean taxes - and Americans don't like taxes. I'm not kidding. On at least 2 separate occasions during Uni in the American Heartland, I imported cases of…

well dudes, i have been reading a little about water cloning and i like what i read, so i thought i would give it a go, these are Red Devil clones i am taking, should have done it weeks ago but being a slackass i didn't, i have basically followed the procedure in another thread (forget which one exactly) here a a few pics of how i have set it up, there is about 150mm or 18litres of solution underneath the foam lid, which came from those foam food boxes used in the industry, if this style works it really is too easy, will keep posting on the progress

Nothingmuch to say really. Bill showed me his clones, he likes to use jiffy pots. I had trouble last time I used them, something like a decade ago but, and lots of people told similar tales of how they couldn;t get them to work, same sort of tales of how they were gross on seed planting too. Anyway, I saw Bill's clones and the bloody roots he had exposed looked like something from a horror movie. They were awsome, something Speilberg would be proud to scare some-one with. Anyway, just thought I'd get a few jiffy pots and run them half/half rockwool clones against jiffy pots. I'm convinced they're the shit, but I can't incorporate them into my indoor style of growin…

just took clones (more like popcorn in a bubble cloner ) of these three strains... Not really sure what any are, but have all given good smoke outdoors, the purple variety is particularly tasty (jaffa to white choc) and may be an orange/xxx. What do you recon my chances are of getting any healthy plants from these? I have seen clones this far gone work in the past, but it was my old man and I cant remember what he did to get em started.
