The book is by Robert A. Heinlen. He wrote 'starship troopers' and 'red planet', this book was written in the 60's and it influenced alot of people (Jim Morrison and Bill Hicks to name only a couple), its about a human baby left on mars after something bad happens to thier ship, he is raised by the martians, and himself becomes a martian by environment. Then at the age of 27 or so he is brought back to Earth, and sees human society in a completely unique and profound way (Heinlen is a genious, he was writing about things like sattelites and microwaves 30 years before they were ever invented), I dont want to give too much away, but its a beautifully written book, its very…

A mate of mine just mentioned Flight of the Conchords and introduced me to them via this clip, which is an amusing intro into their work. Here's a clip from their TV show called 'If You're Into It': If You're Into It But by far my favourite is their David Bowie medley. Anyone who has ever loved Bowie's music or appreciate's a few acid jokes should enjoy this live performance. I have watched about 10 clips now and am hooked. Here's a few more direct links: She's So Hot...BOOM! Business Time The Humans Are Dead

Shantaram is a book by Gregory David Roberts. I bought the book last year after hearing a radio interview with the author. The book is based on his real life adventures and is about to be made into a movie starring Johnny Depp. Hopefully they won't fuck it up. The novel covers his time in India and Afghanistan while on the run after escaping from prison in Australia. The Afghanistan bit is especially interesting considering what is going on there now. This is a long novel (almost 1000 pages) but one of my favourites. It's got adventure, philosophy, crime, poverty, love, suffering, violence, war, redemption and a fair bit of drug use (hashish, and a little heroin addiction…

I just discovered this webcomic whcich was actually written in 1976 but has since been 'webbified' that tells the story of what 'could have' been in terms of the way our society (as an extension of the U.S.) has taken us into slavery. Anyway I'm enjoying it immensly, I hope some of you do as well. ;-) http://www.bigheadpress.com/tpbtgn?page=0 N

A Japanese couple obsessed with 1950s America goes to Memphis because the male half of the couple emulates Carl Perkins. Chance encounters link three different stories in the city, with the common thread being the seedy hotel where they are all staying. Fucn excellent parts played by Screamin Jay, Joe Strummer. Watch at 2am outside on a hot summer night while smoking a copious amount of heads or it is good to watch when coming down off a trip.

I just noticed on the TPB movie website that it'll be in theatres from October 6 (so downloads not far away ) http://www.tpbmovie.com There's a trailer there Synopsis: Kicked out from jail days before the guard/inmate ball hockey final, Ricky, Julian and Bubbles return to Sunnyvale trailer park with a plan for The Big Dirty, the largest heist of their long criminal history: a dimwitted scheme to steal vast quantities of change – since it’s untraceable. Meanwhile, Ricky is pondering taking his relationship with longtime girlfriend Lucy to the next level when he discovers that Lucy has some newly enhanced anatomy and a job at the Gentleman’s Club. Later, visiting t…
