Hey, i've been reading up on different growing methods for other plants and I came across banana peels which are generally used as food for roses. This gave me an idea, after researching banana peels, they are high in potassium and a good bloom booster. Banana peels are buried directly into the soil around the roses, also you can chuck them in the compost pile, i'd like to try make some banana compost when I get time. I also read that banana compost can reduce watering by 20%, lead to better yields and increase the micro-nutrient availability to the plants. Banana peels are apparently also a favourite food for earthworms which are an important factor in my garden. Does …

Hey, how's it going? here's some different methods of drainage in medium Perlite vs Vermiculite - Have you had better results with perlite or vermiculite or both?? The size of the vermiculite particles are larger than the perlite which i've found has given me better drainage over the years, although I recently tried using both to see if having different particle sizes in the medium would make a difference and it's working great at the moment. The plants hold enough water and drains well, i've had to water my plants everyday as the drainage is a bit too good next time i'll be adding more coco to the mix as I only went about 20% coco 40% perlite & vermiculite mix and t…

Anyone using it? Have been umm'n and rr'n for a while about using it. Got given a satchel recently and will try it out. I was told increases yields by 20% and you can start seeing the new flowers within a day or two. Organic grower friend of mine told me to stay away from it. Thoughts?

I have been offered a great deal on GT (Growth Technology) nutrients but I have never used them before so I was wondering if anyone knows anything about them or if you have used them before? Here is a link to the products I have been offered http://www.growthtechnology.com.au/psl6/0/gt-coco-grow-bloom Need to know if its worth trying them so all comments will be appreciated. I can get the same very cheap prices on Nulife Powergro but I grow in coco so they are not really suited to me.

Hi guys Just started my first grow 3 weeks ago with 2 chronic seeds. They were doing well until one of them seems to have some nutrient burn. Ive got them in some vege & herb potting mix from bunnings in a small pot (i know this is bad). Im going to be transporting them(if they live) in a week or so as they are up to their 3rd set of leaves.. Will be using Yates dynamic lifter potting mix with about 30% perlite added and moving them into large pots(20L or larger? plz advise) that they will live in permanently(i hope). I cant grow directly in the ground so this is how i have to do it, dont want it to get too complex so i jst want to stick to soil for my first grow..if…

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would like to share their recipes for brewing tea!? I'm fairly new to hydroponics and there is so much to take in, but one technique i'm fairly certain about, just from reading the plethora of perks, is using 'bennie tea' in my grow. there are many forums and threads on this, but after a search i couldn't find anything here. Anyways, I have been doing a bit of sourcing of ingredients and some are harder to find than others of course. Some are local and some not so local... The 2 most important/popular ingredients seem to be Aquashield(liquified chicken shite with live bacteria) and Ancient forest(which seems to be different from just str…

Hello there, Iv been doing some research on nutrients and PH testing and keep getting somewhat confused, as most instructionals and guides will tell you to test the water PH level before feeding the plants, but when i read grow diaries, people test their grow medium. Im a COMPLETE begginer, and i do feel like a d**k for asking very basic questions every knows as common sense, but im a complete newbie, so would be extremely greatful if anyone could possibly answer these questions for me... just yes or no would be fine, but any extra information is always appreciated. *When people/articles reffer to nutrients, do they mean the PH adjusters, or are nutrients a whole addi…
