General Cultivation Q&A

I wanna get a grow chamber going on...I was thinking about one of the expensive "all in one" pre-mades, but well, they ARE pretty fucking expensive. So...I figure I'll try and make one myself, as many people up in here seem to think it's a relatively simple endeavour, I'm prepared to give it a try. First of all, I'd like to do some reading. Now, assuming I know nothing of hydroponics other than "you grow stuff under a light", what would be some good sites to visit, or books to d/l that would give me a basic idea, in terms of things like drainage, materials, nutrients, lights...and all that shit. I wanna go way oldskool at my starting point, so let's assume I need HEAPS …

Ok so I'm pretty desperate right now have two new plants in the early second week under a 400w hps, though they are pretty close to the light. I'm using gravel as a medium, and Amsterdam Indoors for the nutrients. My tap water is usually high in alkalinity in the 9.0 - 8.0 scale. I usually have been bringing it down with phosphoric acid. I usually keep the res at 5.8 - 6.0ph. I haven't had a problem with ph fluctutation this time as i'm using gravel instead of clay but the same problem on my plants keeps appearing! FU** The oldest and first leaves started appearing with yellow spots on the leaf tips and then those whole two oldest first leaves on the plant started curl…

hey guys, im growin my first weed plant and i was wondering if you would be able to give me some tips to keep it alive. its about 2 weeks old, maybe 3, and at the moment, its only a stalk wit two leaves but it has 2 flat leaves too, its weird, but is that normal? iv never grown a plant before, and its still in a tiny pot, but when should i plant it in the garden and how often should i water it, i need lots of advice, also, i was told if, when the base starts sprouting leaves, to cut them back and they will grow back bushier, is that true? i just need lots of tips, i will get a photo of my plant and also, how can i determine its sex and can i stop it becoming male?? please…

Why is there some plants that have a few yellow leafs and the rest green? whats going on there? Just thinking

I fucked up my first grow. When I put the plants into flower I didn't bother checking for males because I was using Feminised seeds and didn't think I'd get any males. The males have released there Pollen and it is all over the floor in my grow room. It's been about 2 months now, will it be dead now?. Or do I need to spray with bleach or something?.

Its been 2 weeks since they germinated and they've only grown probably 5 cm's tall... and its quite weird seeing other pro's in their forth day they're like 10+ cms tall... I've only been watering just normal water, should I be using nutes? The leaves are turning yellow... ill take some pictures soon and post them... i need serious help starting myself off... how far should the hydro lights be from the plants?(roughly) and how much light should they see? 18/6?

ive heard that the stuff left over in your bong water and the black stuff in the stem is hash OR is sort of like hash. is any of this true or close to the truth??? if it is not true then is there anything you can do with the stuff left over in the bong and in stem besides throwing it out? will it get you stoned at all? thanks

can using a oxydator be detrimental to beneficials living in the root zone and res tank, have searched and searched, no one has even heard of it, for those that havent, its a little gadget that sits in ya res with h2o2 in it, and converts it through a little catalyst in the oxydator through the pourous pot on base of the gadget.supposed to put out pure oxygen and water, no h202 comes in contact with the roots system,,can someone please shed some light.

Just wondering if anyone knows of where i can buy a good set of relatively cheap electronic scales, one that uses gram incriments to around 2ounces would be nice. Would prefer to get links to stores selling in Australia, thanks.
