IT was hardly glamorous but it did the job. A Sydney police officer commandeered a bicycle to chase a teenager who fled while he was being questioned yesterday in suburban Redfern. Officers began chasing the youth when he ran off at 9.45pm yesterday but lost him. But when he was spotted again a few minutes later, a detective sergeant was not going to lose his man again. He stopped a passing cyclist and commandeered his bike to chase the youth. Shortly afterwards, with a disclocated shoulder the result of an arrest struggle, the police officer had his suspect. The youth has been charged with stealing, assaulting and resisting police and trespassing. He will…

Smoking Flowers And other stuff I have heard. When I was young I remember walking passed hotels on a perpetual summer afternoon and seeing men unconscious on the footpath. On occasion I saw them vacantly leaning on traffic-light poles their trouser-flies baptised with piss. At the same time I was told that smoking cannabis led to ‘harder’ drugs. I was told that ‘Jesus loves me this I know’ but always believed this with the same fervour that I believed in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny – both of whom seemed more amiable. If you got a lot of presents it was because you were good; if you didn’t it was because you were Aboriginal. Life was gentler then. The televised h…

News Ltd today reported that organisers of the Big Day Out at Homebush had decided they would confiscate any flag or bandana featuring the national symbol at the gates. Event organiser Ken West was quoted as saying fans' behaviour last year in the wake of the Cronulla riots and the recent ethnic violence at the Australian Open tennis tournament had forced his hand. "The Australian flag was being used as gang colours. It was racism disguised as patriotism and I'm not going to tolerate it," Mr West said. BDO organisers issued a statement this morning saying the flag was not banned, but they said they did not want concert-goers taking it into the event. "We are not b…

A new report titled "Where there's smoke - cannabis and mental health" has been released. It was featured (splashed) in our local rag yesterday for some lovely boxing day anticannabis diatribe, no doubt! The link to it is here - http://www.mhca.org.au/documents/MHCACannabisfinalLR.pdf Heads up to Niall, Jess and our other cruisaders. I haven't had chance to swallow it all yet. Found section one summary to negate the value of the whole study. Funny enough, another government funded study into a phony issue. Likely better entitled "Where there's smoke and mirrors - governent misappropiation of funds and propaganda." Onto some quotes from the document.. "Recent p…

Hi all, was just wading through a few pages of links when I clicked on this one to the Commonwealth Government, Department of Health and Ageing http://www.health.gov.au/internet/wcms/Pub...is-can_exec.htm Looks like a report into cannabis policy by a bunch of uni qualified legal arena consultants, lawyers etc, financed by you and I. Looks like it was tabled 2004 In particular chapter 4(Dutch approach vs US approach) is very interesting, as well as Chapter7(Conclusion) and also the chapter on Medicinal Use, actually sheds some light on an easy way for the government to legislate for medicinal use and still meet it's obligations to archaic international treaties. Actual…

6OZ Stoners: Charting the Rise of Australia's Premier Cannabis Community
Greetings, Stoners! The rich narrative of the Australian cannabis community, with OZ Stoners standing tall at its helm, is a blend of trials, tribulations, heartening comebacks, and the unwavering dedication of its members. Let’s delve deep into this riveting tale.
Geocities: The Digital Genesis
In the bustling digital streets of the late '90s, Yahoo Geocities stood out as a haven for burgeoning online communities. It was here, amidst this digital renaissance, that OZ Stoners planted its foundational roots. This marked the dawn of a space that would go on to become synonymous with Australian cannabis culture.
Navigating the Digital Tempests
On its journey, OZ Stoners faced formidable challenges. Between Yahoo's unpredictability and the unexpected anti-cannabis stance of titans like Meta, steering the ship required a blend of adaptability, tenacity, and foresight.
A Hiatus and the Phoenix's Ascent
Come 2022, OZ Stoners entered a period of unplanned dormancy, lasting a challenging 12 months. But, reminiscent of the legendary phoenix, this hiatus was transformed into an opportunity for rebirth. The platform underwent comprehensive upgrades, server enhancements, and a revitalising overhaul. As it emerged, it did so with a phoenix-like rise, soaring higher and brighter, dedicated to serving the community with even more zeal and purpose.
Ode to the Trailblazers
The tapestry of OZ Stoners is woven with the dedication and vision of its founding members. Their relentless drive and contributions have been the bedrock of its success. While many of these pioneers continue to shape its direction, we pause to honor those trailblazers we've lost over time. Their indomitable spirit continues to inspire and resonate within the cannabis community. - Memorial Hall
The Lighthouse of Today and Promise of Tomorrow
OZ Stoners, in the contemporary digital landscape, stands as a lighthouse for the Australian cannabis community. Beyond being a forum, it exemplifies adaptability, unity, and a shared passion. As it anchors and shapes cannabis discourse Down Under, it continually underscores the strength and beauty of collective endeavor.
As you engage with OZ Stoners, remember the sweat, tears, and dreams that built its legacy. Here’s to the cannabis community, the trailblazers of the past, and the promising horizons of the future. Cheers to shared stories and monumental growth ahead!
