Im looking to buy a 400w HPS Kit setup off ebay. Two different stores offer kits for the same price, one is Growlush and the other is sunmaster. My other question is, this will be my first attempt at a hydroponic grow and i really cannot decide between going for soil, or an ebb and flow setup. I will be growing in a fairly limited area, 1m deep, 1.5m long, 1.8m high. Thanks

I have 6 54W 4ft long T5 HO Lights. My grow space is a little under 4ft wide so i cant have the lights flush with the top of the closet. should i have the lights vertically (3 on each side of the plants)? or have the lights on an angle above the plants? i attached a diagram it was fun to draw, yeah im a bit stoned....

If you were to combine three 1000W HPS light with one MH 1000W to get a better spectrum of light, where would you position the MH? based on the diagram below? Jimbo And yes... I know the shades aren't facing the correct way...

I cant seem to get my humidity down and im thinking humidity is the cause of my powdery mold issue. Does a humidifier really do the trick? If im around 70% Rh atm, how much can i expect a humidifier to reduce the RH by? and what size would i need for a 4X4 grow space. Would i put the dehumidifier outside the grow space so the air is already adjusted before it is sucked in through holes in the space, or would i want to find a way to have it inside the crowded growspace? Thanks in advance for the tips!

been reading the scarce info on this manipulation of light period during week 5 and 6. Has anyone tried this out or have any info or links. The overall procedure will supposedly give plants 80% more light overall and 40% better yielding potential any info appreciated aussie1

So my humidity is around 70% week 4 of flowering and i have been fighting off some powdery mildew. How can i get the humidity to go down? I bought a good inline fan and though that it would help, but it actually made the humidity go up i think. So should i lower the speed of the intake fan and try to get the temp to rise to 80? (currently 75ish). Add more circulating fans? Any tips?

New high powered LEDs 1 2 3

I really like LEDs and, at least theoretically, they'd make ideal grow lights. Problems so far have been initial cost and (relatively) low lumen output. Enter the new generation of high power, high efficiency LEDs: http://www.luxeonstar.com/item.php?id=5145...=LXML-PD01-0040 There are a few manufacturers making these next gen LEDs (Cree, Lumileds, Seoul semiconductors). From my research - that is, geeking out on candlepowerforums - i figure the best bang for buck to be had is with the new Luxeon Rebels. I've ordered a bunch of the red & blue versions of these. Red & blue because white light is quite inefficient; clorophyll absorbs most strongly in blue & r…

Hello, Question 2. Would all the CFL lights show the colour spectrum details? e.g 2700k If NOT, how would i go about finding them? Thanks

I'd had my flowering 1000s in service FAR too long. Thought 18 mos, was very embarrassed to notice my texta mark on the tube base was 12/2004... I should be replacing yearly... but ya know... Was a little low on bux, bought a couple of the cheapest 1000 HPS on the shelf in Ye Olde Hydroe Shoppe. These were marked 'made in China' and had straight cylindrical glass envelopes as compared to other big HPS jugs like the GE LucaGrow 1000s which have a pronounced bulge in the middle of the tube. I whipped out my not so accurate (but good enough for comparisons) lux meter (found on special at Bunnies $20 down from $40)... ...and took a reading of the old GE 1000s at …

Hi guys, this is probably one for the electricians out there, and I know a lot of people are going to tell me to take this project to one, but I have enough experience with wiring to do this safely, I just need the technical expertise. I obtained an "ATCO OGS400-100" (ballast only), along with a 400w HPS globe. It says it is capable of running MH and HPS, although I will only be using it for HPS. I understand I will also need to get a starter (igniter) and a capacitor (optional?) The part I am unsure of is the whole layout of the thing. The only info I can find involves using transformers with a long side and a short side..... this thing only has 3 connectors... "E" - "B"…

I've vegged my mums under a 400HPS for many years. Works fine. Not sure I should have tried to fix something that wasn't broken, but there you go, eh? The HPS was a couple of years old and due for renewal. Bought a 400W MH>HPS retrofit lamp and ran it for 2 weeks beginning immediately after I did a batch of cuttings off the mums. The mums usually recover fully within 15 days under the 400HPS- they have to be cut back or they're growing into the light, about 30-odd inches above the medium surfaces. Under the MH conversion lamp, the mother plants took a full week longer to recover and even then were about 6" shorter than 15 days under the 400HPS. Considering I run …

They look great and was interested in getting one until i saw the price. They look like the sorta thing, with the riught guidance, that you could build yourself. Anyone every built used or seen plans/blueprints for these timers please leave your feedback as i may end up just buying one if ic ant find a cheaper alternative.
