Guess which one of us had a cone before this meeting? I had reason to be at the launch of Poverty Week in NSW at Parliament House - didn't get the chance to raise my favourite topic as I glad-handled the Premier, I was representing another group but I certainly decided to mellow out before I left home.

The North Shore line, running from Berowra to Central, has been added to other train lines where officers do not need a warrant to search for illicit drugs, Police Minister John Watkins announced yesterday. Handlers and their dogs will now be able to search passengers on train services running as far south as Bomaderry, north to Newcastle and west to Penrith. Drug detection dogs will also chec…

If marijuana were to be legalized and regulated, what would be the economic impact of such a change? Fred Crowley, a research economist at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, created an input/output model of the marijuana business at the request of 'The Colorado Springs Business Journal'. Crowley commented briefly on the model, "“[My] analysis is based on the assumption the money from the sale of marijuana is spent in the local community. It was assumed $80,000,000 income is made from the sale of marijuana. “It was assumed the income is earned by a cross section of households selling the drug from lower to higher income levels. “Needless to say, the anal…

Where did the word 'marijuana' come from? In the mid 1930s, the M-word was created to tarnish the good image and phenomenal history of the hemp plant...as you will read. The facts cited here, with references, are generally verifiable in the Encyclopaedia Britannica which was printed on hemp paper for 150 years: * All schoolbooks were made from hemp or flax paper until the 1880s; Hemp Paper Reconsidered, Jack Frazier, 1974. * It was LEGAL TO PAY TAXES WITH HEMP in America from 1631 until the early 1800s; LA Times, Aug. 12, 1981. * REFUSING TO GROW HEMP in America during the 17th and 18th Centuries WAS AGAINST THE LAW! You could be jailed in Virginia for refusing to g…

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) - Islamic leaders in Mogadishu on Thursday gave a woman 11 lashes for selling cannabis, the first female to receive such punishment since the fundamentalist rulers took over the capital in June. The woman, who throughout the beating insisted she was innocent, was flogged alongside five other men at the Yassin Square in Mogadishu in front of several hundred people. The small bundle of cannabis, worth around $1 on the streets of the capital, was burned before the crowd. ``The reason we punished them was that we want to stop people selling and using drugs,'' said a local security official, Sheik Omar Hussein. ``We believe as Islamists that people …

PM - Tuesday, 23 March , 2004 18:40:09 Reporter: Ian Townsend MARK COLVIN: Two and a half tonnes of cannabis landed at the doors of Federal Parliament today, a gift from Queensland. It's the legal stuff, of course, though it did raise a few eyebrows. A frustrated Queensland company has sent each federal politician a 10-kilogram pack of industrial hemp mulch. It's part of a long-running battle to get the Government to relax the restrictions on growing hemp for food and fibre. Ian Townsend reports. IAN TOWNSEND: The mailrooms at Parliament House get the occasional odd item in the post. These individually addressed packs of cannabis posed a few problems, mainly …

Geocities: The Digital Genesis
In the bustling digital streets of the late '90s, Yahoo Geocities stood out as a haven for burgeoning online communities. A Hiatus and the Phoenix's Ascent
Come 2022, OZ Stoners entered a period of unplanned dormancy, lasting a challenging 12 months. But, reminiscent of the legendary phoenix, this hiatus was transformed into an opportunity for rebirth. The platform underwent comprehensive upgrades, server enhancements, and a revitalising overhaul. As it emerged, it did so with a phoenix-like rise, soaring higher and brighter, dedicated to serving the community with even more zeal and purpose.
Ode to the Trailblazers
The tapestry of OZ Stoners is woven with the dedication and vision of its founding members. Their relentless drive and contributions have been the bedrock of its success. While many of these pioneers continue to shape its direction, we pause to honor those trailblazers we've lost over time. Their indomitable spirit continues to inspire and resonate within the cannabis community. - Memorial Hall
