FIWH's adventures with lacto bacillus and fermented ferts

Recommended Posts

Seed Sprout Teas ( SST ), something home brewers do a bit of , Some c & p info if interested for living soil growing

Past two nodes, they start getting full strength SST.
At one node 1/3 strength SST.
No SST for sprouts

Use alfalfa SST when transitioning to flower to reduce internodal space.

The Alfalfa tricanotol rate when used correctly will thicken root mass, and keep slightly shorter internodal space while achieving the same or higher yields

28 Grams Alfalfa Seed (1 Ounce )

Soak for 8 hours with Clean Water
Should now weigh minimum 42 Grams (If not soak longer)
Sprout seeds until tail is as long as the seed or about 1-2 days.
Blend in a food blender or whatever you have with a little but of water to help it blend.
Add this to 5 gallons water and you have one of the worlds most nutritious Plant Enzyme Teas available for PENNIES.

Use barley SST once a week in veg, and at week four of flower in conjunction with corn SST

The high enzymatic content of barley help the conversion of dead roots by beneficial bacteria, perfect for keeping roots healthy . The high amino acids

lessen the work needed microbially so that in the areas that can be speed in the food web we have. Every other SST in veg I use 1/2 cup of flax seed with the barley

Don't sprout the flax, add it when blending / grinding the sprouted barley.( coffee grind flax seed & add to 5gal water with blended barley )

The reason we don't sprout it is that flax is mucilaginous it doesn't sprout like most sprouts.

This is because once it meets water it forms a gel sack which surrounds the seed. This interferes with bacterial bio-slime from what I've read. Also I use it almost solely

for the fatty acid complex in it, so sprouting would cause it to start using those fatty acid to make hormones/phytohormones we get elsewhere

56 Grams Barley Seed (2 Ounces)

Soak for 8 hours with Clean Water
Should now weigh minimum 84 Grams (If not soak longer)
Sprout seeds until tail is as long as the seed or about 1-2 days.
Blend in a food blender or whatever you have with a little but of water to help it blend.
Add this to 5 gallons water and you have one of the worlds most nutritious Plant Enzyme Teas available for PENNIES.

Typical GroZymes and Plant Enzyme Bottled Nutrients want to charge you for their secret ingredient.... Barley. And it ain't Cheap.
Barley is used in virtually all the Pond Clean Enzyme Bottles  and many other products, stop wasting money and make it yourself
.

Use Corn SST once a week for first three - four weeks of flower (up to week 7 in on a 12 week plant, up to week 9 in a 14 week plant) .

The corn SST provides the highest cytokinin, which promotes thicker stems which hold the yield better often in my anecdotal experience leading to slightly heightened yields.

56 Grams Corn Seed (2 Ounces)

Soak for 12-24 hours with Clean Water
Sprout seeds until tail is 1/2 inch long or about 1-2 days.
Blend in a food blender or whatever you have with a little bit of water to help it blend.
Add this to 5 gallons water and you have one of the worlds most nutritious Plant Enzyme Teas available for PENNIES

Cytokinin Functions

A list of some of the known physiological effects caused by cytokinins are listed below.

The response will vary depending on the type of cytokinin and plant species

(Davies, 1995; Mauseth, 1991; Raven, 1992; Salisbury and Ross, 1992).

  • Stimulates cell division.
  • Stimulates morphogenesis (shoot initiation/bud formation) in tissue culture.
  • Stimulates the growth of lateral buds-release of apical dominance.
  • Stimulates leaf expansion resulting from cell enlargement.
  • May enhance stomatal opening in some species.
  • Promotes the conversion of etioplasts into chloroplasts via stimulation of chlorophyll synthesis.

.Hope you find the info interesting

Cheers

yes you can mate , although the teas above need to be used asap once blended & the ferment below seem to have a shelf life so i'm not really sure bout shelf life

1. Gather a bunch of seeds, preferably of a fast growing plant like alfalfa. I’m just using bird seed cause it’s cheap

2. Soak seeds overnight in clean unchlorinated water.

3. The next day, drain seeds of water, but keep them moist. You can use a moist paper towel for this, cover the seeds with it and keep it moist

4. After a few days, you should see white shoots start popping out of the seeds

5. When the young roots are around 1/4in long, they are ready for harvest.

6. Weigh out or estimate the weight of the bunch of sprouts

7. Get 1/3-1/2 that weight in sugar and add it to the sprouted seeds

8. Add this whole thing to a blender and blend it well. You can add a bit of water to facilitate blending. The water also helps dissolve the sugar. You can dissolve the sugar in the water before you start blending.

9. Add a bit of lacto, like 1-2tbsp per liter of mixture

10. Seal up this whole thing in an airtight container. Use an airlock or something as gas will be created during fermentation that needs to be let out, without letting air in.

11. Leave in a dark place for 3-6 weeks to let fermentation run its course. After fermenting it looks quite a bit more broken down.

Add this growth promoter to your plant’s feed water at 1-2tbsp per gallon. Play around with more or less

Just a note for the ferment above the paper towel can tend to cause some white fungal hyphae to grow on the sprouts , as long as it's white it's good to use

instead of paper towels i used a pasta strainer post-50689-0-50963200-1436157554_thumb.jpg& bowel to sprout the seeds once 8 hr soak is done & gave the sprouts a rinse twice a day in rain water,

but otherwise left them in the strainer the whole time ( 2 - 3 days ) with a cover of some sort , A4 bit of paper , a few grow though the strainer but it's no prob cause ya blitzing them anyway

Edit : If using corn let the tails get a bit longer cause it softens the corn seed & makes it easier to blend

you can strain the seed bits out of the end product if you prefer with SST making
