Any body using leds?

Recommended Posts

Hi peeps.
Been reading heaps about LED just out of curiosity and there is definitely a reason why the cheapo LED panels are no good. The components are very low efficiency meaning they don't get anywhere near claims for lumens/watt.
Panels with the best components are hugely expensive, so they are way off competing with HID lamps.

But what about building your own? You can choose the best components without the massive mark up.

Hey all, been looking at the grow room/tent and was considering a bit of an upgrade to the lighting. Thinking of putting 400w of digital lighting supplemented by leds. Kessil leds are what I am looking at procuring, but as they are an expensive unit, approx. $220 each, not many are willing to stock them. Has/is anyone out there using these leds, and are they up to all the hype I've been hearing about them. Do the spectrums they come in make as much of a difference as they would like us to believe?

Stick with HPS bulbs.

Here is a LED light that I purchased for heat reduction as I grow all year round.

It works great from seed through veg.

I can't comment on flowering with it as I have a separate area for that and use HPS.

Flowering can be done at night to avoid the heat.

GrowSun Features

1) 12-bands full spectra from 400-760nm & white for the best grow effect
2) Single 20watt LED with 12-bands mutil-chips for the best mixture of different spectra,
most effective & powerful for optimal performance
3) Sunface optical lens make the average intensity of each spectrum per unit of area,
mix the full spectra like sunshine(the part of 400-760nm)
4) 5G GrowSun Series spread a fixed coverage with average intensity of each band.
Coverage is the same with different quantity LEDs on
5) Each 20watt LED can be simply replaced with our unique sodering-free design
6) Using MeanWell power supply with safe voltage DC36V output
7) Built-in fans, no vents on the light back, better water proof, against water drops
8) Whole anti-rust aluminum casing for better heat solution
9) Acryl sheet with reflector surface, make sure all light in use, no waste
10) Work with GrowSun controller for three stages of seedling, vegetation and bloom
11) Easy to set the lighting time and lighting intensity percentage of each stage
12) Two operation ways of control panel and wireless remote controller
13) Lighting intensity percentage will be automatically decreased for over heat problem,
power will be cut off if any accident occur
14) Golden color coating, aristocratic temperament but civilian price
15) Hang kits included
16) One year full warranty

Yes, it works well through veg, never used it for flowering though.

It does exactly what I purchased it to do !

Here is some info

I paid around $500US for it delivered.

It is a 320w panel.

The LED's are 20w each

I just found a fairly recent video made by High Times of a LED grow.
