Removing loads of shade leaves Dont

I am in the unfortunate postion of having black flies in such abundance on my plants that I used a hydro store bought chemical to kill them and save my plants. The problem? I had to double dose the plants and the second dose basically wiped 70% of the upper shade leaves from the plants. This in effect robbed me of some glorious buds by hindering the growth of the plant and producing buds 50% smaller than what they would normally be. I guess the rule of thumb applies here...everything in moderation... In general I like to trim a very small percentage of the planys to allow light to filter down...this usually accounts for about 5-10% of the total shade leaves and Ive…

I have a few plants in the process of water flushing, prior to harvest, about 4 days away. Once they are out, i need to kill off all nasties in there, before placing new plants in there. The room is about 4x4m, i still have a few more plants in there, they are 4 weeks from harvest. The room is really being overtaken with aphids. 70% of leaves are a pale color due to excessive attacks. A Few weeks ago I used 2 bottles of bug off pyrethium spray, which did not work as well as usual, possably due to excessive bug numbers. I have 10 sticky aphid traps placed all round the room, but they are not doing the job that well either. Obviously, i have let them get out of control (we…

last night i had some ppl come over and I have to move one of my plants into a cupboard. The cupboard wasn;t really the right size for the plant, but i didn;t even have time to look, I had to do this quickly. anyways. It was probably 10cm's away from a 400hps for 2 hours. I only took the plant out dismorning and i've moved it back to it's original home but the very top of the plant has been COOKED, it's almost chrispy like. have i fucked it for good this time? (this plant has been through so much beating and crap) or will it come back? My poor felix

cant fix the pH balance!

I have been looking after some plants for a friend of mine for about 2 weeks. The leaves have started to fold up on the edges and the bottom fan leaves have what looks like burning on them. I flushed the plants with a ph 6.0 water and started them on 1/2 strength nutes but this hasn't seemed to make a difference. When I water them with pH 6.5 nutes, the runoff is coming out at about ph 7-7.3, so I presume this is a pH fluctuation problem... One plant has dried up to a crisp almost, but new growth displays the same symptoms as the rest. The light is about 3.5 ft above them at the moment as they were under fluros prior to going under a 400w HPS lamp. Oh yeah, they ar…

Recently my outdoor garden has been attacked by many insects  , red and two-spotted spider mite, whitefly, aphids, and most of them were easy to deal with plant by plant, (except the mites, had to use a sulphur spray for them, and they're still hard to kill! ) Anyway, I've noticed that a waxy white scale like creatures have been attacking not only the tree fern and citrus, but attached to the stems of my ladies as well! About 2-3 ml around, their coating is soft and waxy and gets larger as the insect does, when you rub them off they have a bright red/orange underside and they squash easily..... Anyone know this pest? Anyone successfully treated them? I notic…

I have just moved one of my plants from my 250mh and put it under a 400hps. Now the thing is, I believe that the plants that are growing under the 250mh are growing quicker than the plant under the 400. There on the same nute. Only difference is light and the 1 plant is in a bubbler setup. the others are in a PVC tube setup running a flood and drain system The plants under the 250 are growing an inch a day, the plant under the 400 is growing about an inch every 2 days. Any help guys? Should i go buy some more 250's and keep veggin under them?

My plants are in a Flood and Drain system, about 3 weeeks old, they are the fattest mj plants i've ever seen, the stems are nearly 1" thick already. I can;t believe it, i'll get pics as soon as i can. now, the problem is that some of the leaves are curling up from the outside in. ummm, like there rolling up...... I also have a Bubbler system setup and that plant is doing the same thing. I know it's hard to describe over the net but if there are any questions i can answer to resolove this problem, plz ask. Ph level i don;t know. I have been mixing full amount of nute into the water mix.

I'm growing in PVC tubing. I've been unsure what to do with the watering system at night time, so I've been turning the water off at nights. Last night I let the water and air pumps go all night. The plants don;t look happy dismorning, all the leaves are drooping and some of them have curled up around the edges. What is this? i have no cam to take pics. If it is over watering, have i stuffed my plants?

Hi, I am a relatively new grower, I have grown before with limited success, only a few plants tho, now for my problem, i dug a patch and put in potting mix and cow manure, water crystals and osmocote (slow release fertilizer) I sprouted my seeds in seedling containers and while i was waiting i put 4 star pickets around my fence, i put 4 pieces of barbed wire around the pickets and strained the wire, the wire is around 15cm apart from each peice going up the pickets, when 9 of my seedlings sprouted i transfered them to my patch, this was the first day, when i went down the second day i noticed one more seed had sprouted, so i planted it too, all the plants were fine then,.…

There seems to be an epidemic occuring in the south west sydney area atm.At least 4 peoples crops I know are all dead or dying. These are all very experienced growers, some of whom are horticulturists, spreading from the southern outskirts to the mid south west. It has been suggested it could be a type of Fusarium, or even elephants foot , which usually impacts capsicums. It is a rapid moving disease which kills the plant within 2-3 days of first signs. The first signs will be leaves dropping off plant, yellowing of leaves and finally total wilt as the plant tries to suck nutrience and water from the leaves. So it seems to be effecting the plants ability to take up an…

hey guys..... i have a dodgy looking little plant that i rescued from a friend (you can check i out in my post in growing techniques "exercise in tying down") that has been growing pretty well outdoors... recently she has started showing purple stems and yellowing (patchy) on her leaves, largely on the shade leaves although the new flowering growth seems to be ok for now....i heard these things can be a sign of phosphorous defficiency....can anyone recommend an orgainc fert high in phosphorous safe to use during the early stages of flowering...up until now she hasn't been fed anything but seasol....any help would be appreciated .... cheers bacchus
