General Cultivation Q&A

Hey, i'm just wondering if airsponges will help me with and odour problem, i'll have a modular ScrOG, some clones and a seperate veg room, all maybe attached to eachother, but i'm wondering if i got a good few airsponges(put them in front of the exaust fan, right?), would it get rid of the odour? or should i just build a carbon air scrubber, or both? i'm gonna start in a few weeks and have most my supllies, but need odour deletion before i start just to not be paranoid... thanks a bunch crazychicken p.s. i know it's off topic again, but what are airstones? i looked on overgrow.com and a few other sites, but no ones fully explained it to me thanks for the help

Hey what's the difference between between soil grows and hydro, i thought it was just what was in the pot when you grow it... isn't it? and what's flood and drain cycle, anyone?

hey ive got and outside grow @ the moment of 5 plants and at the end of this month im going on holiday for 1 or 2 weeks and wanna make sure my plants are ok when im gone. Because it can get pretty hot throughout the day they need watering every second day. So far ive got a plastic water tank thing that holds 9-10lt and drilled a hole in the bottom and put some irregation pipe into it. Sort of a drip system and the end i crimped it and put a pin hole for the water to come out. The result is a small water drop that continuosly drips slowly out. i understand that everything else being equal, hydro will generally grow faster than soil, but my question is that is there any difference in the actual quality of the finished product? same question for fluoros. Yield will suffer, but will the actuall product be the same as if budded under a hps?

Hi All, Pic was takin about 4 or 5 weeks ago, I've had him/her under a 12/12 cycle for 1 week, 2 days, and it's getting rather large. I've read that a satvia's flower cycle can last upto 20 weeks!!!! If this is the case, how much larger might I expect it to grow?? Currently it stands at 54cm. I've recently (last weekend) lined the cupboard it's growing in with aluminum foil (dull side out) to try and increase the amount of light getting to the plant, but it's rather noisy now (i've got a desk fan on continuously to try and keep temps down), can anyone suggest a quick/cheap way to cut down on the racket? hey, i'm planning on growing in the next few weeks and i've never built a grow room before. I wouldn't mind raking in a couple Os from the whole thing and i've been doing research about homegrowing for about a week now(about 6 hours a day) so i have a fair bit of info. My friend Stinky Pete (I have a strain named after him, he gave me the original mother of the line) showed me this technique. He's a bit of an old timer and he doesn't like fancy new fangled things like screens, so he just breaks his branches and bends em over. It's a bit more of a careful process than it sounds. If you feel the stem you will notice it's hollow, but stringy. If you squeeze the stem and slowly bend it over, it will fold, just like a straw. (practise on a straw till you know what I mean) The woody 'skeleton' has been broken but all the'skin and veins' of the plant remain intact and it will heal within a day and start to grow on this angle.
