SCROG or SOG?

hey ozstoners,

 

i have just been reading up on all these SCROG & SOG set ups but im still a little undecided which one to go for

 

i have attached a pic of my set up except for the resavoir which holds 35 liters

 

and at the moment im growing in a built-in wardrobe thats 1 foot by 6 foot so i dont have allot of room

 

but how much room do i need to do one of these set ups and can i expand my current set up to suit them

 

or is there any other ideas on how i can expand my set up to get bigger yields

Sog would require more plants, nine per square foot, if they are clones then they will be ok for scrog, if grown from seed I would strongly recommend against scrog as the risk of males is too high.

 

6 ft x 1 ft is a strange dimension for a wardrobe, they are usually around 1 ft 8 inches deep. How high is the grow space?

yeah it is about a foot and half and just over 5 foot tall

I would veg the plants to about 18" and then flower them, take some clones for mother plants before flowering and discard male/hermie clones with the plants that show male/hermie. if you plan to go sog with your next grow you will need several mums, for scrog or standard type grows you should only need one mum.

 

With such a narrow grow space it would be an idea to fasten some plastic garden fencing around the walls so that you can train some of the branches along the sides and let the light penetrate to the lower areas better.

If you know they're all females go with the scrog. Cut

some wire mesh - I use 'dog fence' about 4 inches each

square, but a lot of people like the 2 inch stuff.

Grow your plants in a line - say one every foot and a half

and spread them under the wire screen to cover all the gaps. Aim to have a grow shoot coming through each hole.

If you dont know the sex, go with a sog, just bend some of the branches to grow sideways. Then if one is a male you can just pull it out. Be sure to take some clones and label them CAREFULLY. If you try to do it from memory you will screw it up.

Watch out for heat in that small a setup. Put a decent exhaust in and if it's still hot put a smaller fan on your intake to suck cool air in.
