Lawyers for three convicted pot smokers will argue that a federal law banning possession of the fiercely debated herb for personal use is unconstitutional. The much anticipated case was among 36 listed Wednesday by the Supreme Court of Canada in its busy fall docket, which begins Sept. 30. The schedule was announced the same day a Senate committee studying the issue said pot and hashish possession should be legalized for residents 16 or older, and regulated much l…

Fungus gnats* are tiny black flies frequently numerous in greenhouses and around certain house plants. Often called manure flies or mushroom flies, none of the adults feed on or damage plants. The larvae primarily feed on fungi and organic matter in the soil. Sometimes these maggots also feed on the roots of flower crops, notably poinsettias, geraniums, lilies, and chrysanthemums. Adults of some "shore flies" (Diptera: Ephydridae), which also breed in moist places, including the greenhouse, are similar to fungus gnats but do not harm plants and so not require control. Plant Damage: The maggots may feed on roots of many plants by chewing or stripping the roots. Severely…

Viral threats Viruses are a threat that many growers remain unaware of. They are usually spread by insect feeding, amd can wreak devastation in a clone garden. Viruses often sit latent until ideal conditions present themselves, at which point they can produce symptoms ranging from slight streaking to induced nutrient deficiency or full plant collapse. In Australia the main vector of viruses are thrips. If your mother plants have ever had thrips problems in the past they will likely to be carrying a virus which will be passed down to any clonal generation. Thrips will usually be found hiding in the growing tip of the…

Posted: 22 Aug. 2002,11:02 Carbon Dioxide is an excellent way to increase your bud bounty. Carbon dioxide (CO2) generators are perhaps the single most powerful increasers of plant production. During the daylight hours plants breathe in and use CO2 much the same way we animals metabolize oxygen. By adding CO2 to the air of the grow room we are capable of greatly stimulating plant growth and vigor. Overexposure to CO2 by humans is very capable of proving fatal. Therefore, also remember that monitoring of the air with a CO2 or gas detection device is mandatory when using a commercial CO2 distribution system. There are two main types of commercial CO2 delivery sys…

Will i be able to keep the oldest one tipped/small enough till the others catch up?. The VB is 4+ weeks old and massive, About 3 times the size of the others, Mainly in width. The other two strains are only about 2 weeks old. They all will be grown indoors under the one light (400w hps). Any help much appreciated, Thanks.

I have read conlficting opinions on whether or not genetics is weakened over time with a mother/clone system and eventually you always have to go back to seed. Fact or fiction? Is it possible to run a perpetual mother/clone system without compromising on quality? Should mothers be replaced with one of their clones after a certain period of time? Also, someone told me that the longer you leave your plant to veg before flower the better the finished product will be. Now I know it will increase yield with a given a set number of plants, but I'm mainly interested in quality of the bud. thanks in advance.

Welcome back Ozstonerz ...the new site looks good and a donation will be forthcoming. Just a thought on scrog growing....can anyone see why the stems cant be trained on top of the screen instead of under it ? It would be just like tying them down instead of stuffing around under the screen and breaking a lot of the stems when they need to be repositioned to make way for latecomers. When space is an issue I think it would be much easier to work on top instead of underneath, especially for old barstards like me who prefer to work at waist height. Im going to try the sea of green method just for the experience but I think I'd prefer to scrog.
