I’ve just started my first indoor grow in a 1x1x2 tent. Running 6” exhaust and oscillator with 600w hps air cooled hood. Light on temps are sweet. However growing in a tent inside a metal shed in winter it’s cold as f#%k at night which is when my lights are out. I’ve been leaving exhaust off during light out due to low temps. Should in run fans 24/7 and let em deal with cold or keep em off which would help raise temps? Sorry forgot to mention week 2 veg. Posted from the OZ Stoners mobile app

Hey crew So the weathers cooling off lately so was going to attempt my first run of RDWC in the next month ... just wanted to see some set ups - was thinking 4 or 8 interlinked. Maybe 8 so less veg time .... One question I’ve started some in jiffy pucks can I just rinse the soil off in water and then put them into the netted pots and add the clay balls ? Should have started in rockwool Cheers

I keep seeing that when setting up the medium for a hydro , not only do you use clay pebbles but to also mix in perlite and vermiculite , if true how much? Cheers Pork

I've been wanting to have a go at a hydro grow and saw this container at the hardware and thought I'd give it a go. Guy said it was quite tough and should keep almost all light out of the solution. 20ltr container. So my plan is simple enough (if it's this simple) I have these orchid pots, gonna cut a hole in the lid to fit the pot and sit on the edge. Drill a hole for the drain at the bottom and a hole for the air hoses. I have a 240v air pump with 2 outlets and run both 24hrs. I have some clay balls I was gonna use and have a go. What nutrients would I use for a system like this? Or I should start off asking would this work? Posted from the OZ Stoners mobile app

Hey gang I’m looking into switching from drain to waste with coco soil to dwc- I have a mate who’s been growing for years this way and been doing my own research lately . I’m going to DIY it , and have 3 plants going but I’ve heard mixed reviews - some people will have a long reservoir with 2 ,3 plants but I was thinking of interlinking 3 seperate pots with a seperate reservoir to make water changes easier etc . Question is would a 20L bucket with a lid be adequate for the roots or would you recommend larger buckets or square poly lid containers ? Does it work like the bigger the reservoir the bigger the plant or simply veg time to size you want . Tia Jim

Beware of exhale and similar co2 products, they tell you to hang your bag above your plants, what they dont tell you is that after a couple of hours of 35°C or above will kill the organisms in the bag that produce the co2 rendering them useless. Posted from the OZ Stoners mobile app

Hello everybody, I will run a kickstarter campaign soon to fund the production of a remote monitoring device that takes continuous measurements of the pH, the EC, the climate (temperature, humidity) and light intensity. It's equipped with WiFi so you can see the measurements on your smartphone. You can receive notification when a threshold is exceeded and display daily, weekly and monthly graphs. It will cost less than most of combo EC+pH meter you can find on the market. I'm an electronic engineer and I grow hydro for almost 8 years now. So I had this idea and spent the last 18 month designing the device with the help of some friends. I can't share the website here becau…

I'm sure the answer is out there but doing a search for "ec" is tricky. So I bought a $50 EC pen (Hydro Axis or something) because I'm getting ready for a noob DWC grow and I thought I needed it(?). I couldn't figure out how to get to the batteries so I used a screwdriver in a hole which I later realised is the calibration dial thing. Oops. I also think I broke the dial thing. Oops x 2. Anyhow, I put the end in a small bucket of tap water and the display stayed at 00. I mixed a splash of nutes in and it read 04. Another bigger splash and it read 18, Could it be the display doesn't have a decimal point, ie 04 = 0.4 and 18 = 1.8 EC? Also, what is the EC of Melbourne tap…

Hey all, so on growth technology website they state max dose is 1ml per 5 litres, they say anymore can hurt the roots? My res is 100 litres iv been dosing once weekly at a rate of 50ml per 100 litres. my question is will this dosage really hurt my roots? Or is it ok? I haven’t noticed no damage yet! From there website it works out I should be using only 20ml not 50ml what’s everyone thoughts should I lower the dosage from now on?

Just wondering what everyone else does here. Im in coco and always read 5.8 is optimal. Sometimes I mix up and put too little or too much pH down so get readings of anywhere between 5.5 and 6.5. I know it's important and have seen the graphs at what pH levels certain nutes get absorbed by the plant but do people feed at varying levels between 5.5 and 6.5 or always important to aim for the 5.8 Eg.typical scenerio, MLG has a 45 litre tub which he's just filled. Puts too much pH down and its sitting at 5.5. Leave as is or pour some out and try to get to 5.8? On the opposite, sitting at 6.4, ok as is or must add more pH down? hi all. just found an interesting article on Oxine to treat your nute solution in hydroponic reservoir. very very interesting. Oxine Oxine is a multipurpose liquid disinfectant which is many times more powerful in eliminating micro organisms than common chlorine based materials or hydrogen peroxide. The beauty of this product is that it is a very powerful oxidiser yet it leaves no harmful by-products behind. When Oxine (a patented stabilised Sodium Chlorite solution) is activated with citric acid it forms a stock solution liquid which emits Chlorine Dioxide gas (ClO2) – a very powerful Oxidising agent. (Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2) derived from Oxine is not to be co…

hi all. 2nd indoor grow and first time hydro doing an r-dwc bucket scrog. been looking to upgrade my chiller as the one i've been using over the cooler months isn't cutting the mustard with the warmer weather coming on... summer comes fast but even faster it seems when your growing hydroponically! research so far tells me that the Teco chillers although dear as phuk are the crack for both performance, reliability and power usage. I'm running about 50lts atm in an uninsulated res and can't keep the temps under 21 deg cel the last week or so and the leaves on the colas have been cupping and edges of leaves seem to be a little brittle. not sure what is causing …
