The study, by researchers at the University of California San Diego, used a type of high-tech scan called diffusion tensor imaging to compare microscopic changes in brain white matter. The subjects were students aged 16-to-19, divided into three groups: binge drinkers (defined as having five or more drinks at one sitting for boys or four or more for girls), binge drinkers who also smoked marijuana, and a control group who had very little or no experience with either alcohol or…

I'm really worried about the accusations that 'weed' is highly addictive. People tell me horror stories of people they know being addicted to it and not being able to get off it and needing help. My theory is that all these people always used it with tobacco. But we all know studies confirm it is about as addictive as coffee. However I believe in australia its the norm to sell 'weed' as marijuana+tobacco. I myself have never bought off the streets so I am unsure. I think weed spun with tobacco is hurting the reputation of cannabis and as such helping to prevent it from being legalised. EDIT: you may have noticed I have edited out the poll and changed some things…

CANNABIS smokers beware: stress or dieting might trigger "reintoxication", resulting in a positive drug test long after you last used the drug. The main psychoactive ingredient of cannabis is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and once in the body it is readily absorbed into fat cells. Over the next few days it slowly diffuses back into the blood. Since THC is taken up by fat more readily than it diffuses out, continual intake means some THC can remain in the fat cells. It has been suggested that stored THC can be released at a later date in situations where the body's fat is rapidly broken down. This is based on anecdotal reports of spikes in blood cannabinoid levels in peo…

The 1933 Report of the "Military Surgeon" stated, regarding marijuana use among the soldiers in the Canal Zone, that: marijuana as grown and used on the Isthmus of Panama is a mild stimulant and intoxicant. It is not a "habit forming" drug in the sense that the derivatives of opium, cocaine, and such drugs, are as there are no symptoms of deprivation following its withdrawal. Delinquencies due to marijuana smoking which result in trial by military court are negligible in number when compared with delinquencies resulting from the use of alcohol drinks, which is also classed as a stimulant and intoxicant(Geller and Boas, 1969: 147). http://www.a1b2c3.com/drugs/mj003.…

I checked back on this pdf someone sent me a while ago. And finally found the bit on Cannabis. It's quite interesting. Here's an exceprt Here's the link for it. I'm still not quite sure whether we even have Dronabinol in Aus.... Apparently it is an extract, not synthetic. Go to page 142 http://www.tga.gov.au/ndpsc/record/rr200902.pdf I just sent a letter to the TGA asking them about it.
