General Cultivation Q&A

I was told by more than a few folks that I should (or may want to) trim off the very top new growth from my plants, which are currently about 12-15 inches tall. The theory behind this being that the plant will "bush out" and produce more (albeit smaller) buds as opposed to a single giant cola. Should I be running for the scissors? Also, how do I know when my plants are mature and I can begin cloning and reducing the light cycle to 12 hours to start budding? Hi guys, I have been looking at buy buying a quantumponics system for some time now - especially when a friend of mine keeps raving about it - but i thought i would check if anybody hear has had any experience with them. i have been looking at http://www.quantumponics.com.au and they have some pretty big claims. they don't have pictures of our kind of shit either and when i emailed them asking for info about marijuana they ignored it. but from what i've gathered it should do good. what do you think? Hey all, Ive seen these aqua spike cone things where you stab them into the ground and put a bottle of water upside down ontop of it, the water leaks through the small holes in the cone under the surface... Do they work? Better alternatives? high_hoper

hey ozstoners, i turned my verry berrys over to flowering over a week ago and they are really taking a long time to turn over has anyone else grown this strain and if so is it normall for them to take ages before you start seeing them flower

Hey, my afghani#1 are 9 days into flowering, Is it ok to remove fan leaves to allow light for the lower parts of the plant? due to me putting 5 plants in my grow box, light is not penetrating below the top canopy. thanks for the help.

Hello there. I have great little consealed spot outside to grow my pot the, but the soil is very hard like a rock. i tried digging around there and the soil is hard dirt clumps, obviously not good for growing pot. what can id to the soil to make it good for growing pot. thansk Jason

Hi(gh)...I recently gathered up the nerve to convert a 240 gallon fish tank into a hydroponics system, and I've got a few questions. My system is a 240 gallon fish tank with a surface-skimming overflow and 20 gallon sump. The water recirculates at approx. 800 gallons per hour. My seedlings are in styrofoam cups filled halfway with "filter floss", topped-off with straight vermiculite. The cups have holes cut in the bottom (which is submerged) and the cups float on another piece of flat styrofoam (with holes to accomodate the cups and allow their bases to be submerged). I'm currently using just one side of the tank, a 4-foot x 2-foot section, and am using 3 quartz ha…

what is the best utencil for cutting off leaves, buds.....etc? Does it make any difference to the plant? high_hoper

I'm new to growing and need advice. I havn't started yet but I'm thinking of it soon. I want advice on the best strain for me and whether I should go outdoor or indoor. I'm in SA and I just want to grow a personal smoke. Enough to last me till next harvest if possible without growing too much. In Adelaide at the moment should I go indoor or outdoor? And what strain should I go for, I want a big yield but good smoke. Is Nothern Lights good for that or are there any others considering I've never grown b4. I know where I vcan get good seeds and clones but I just dont know what to go for. Any advice welcome!!
