It's federal election time this year and I thought I would post the policy of the Australian Greens on drugs as they seem to have the best policy for mj users out of all the federal parties in the arena. It can be viewed with better formatting via the link to the source at the end of the post, you will need to click on the "policies" tab, just under Bob's picture at the top of the page. 6. Drugs and Addiction THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT'S ROLE 6.1 Principles The regulation of currently illegal drugs should be moved outside the criminal framework. In a democratic society in which diversity is accepted, each person has the opportunity to achieve personal fulfilment. It …

ONE of 16 men charged over a $45 million cannabis seizure was allegedly caught on phone taps giving advice about cultivating the drug, a court was told yesterday. Demitrios Hantzis, a 38-year-old Sydney building contractor, appeared in Parramatta Bail Court after he was charged on Thursday with several drug offences. Prosecutors allege he was caught on phone taps offering advice on harvesting, cultivating and caring for the cannabis at the property at Narrabri, western NSW, where most of the 3.2 tonnes of the drug was found. The court also was told his parents lived on the property. Hantzis was arrested at his home in Connells Point, Sydney, after police …

Cannabis contradictions in Holland, the never-ending story. Dutch Justice Minister Donner and Health Minister Hoogervorst want to ban Nederweed from coffeeshops, high THC marihuana threatens the health of smokers, they state. The Amsterdam City Council wants to legalise the production of Nederweed, in order to get a transparent situation, and to get the production out of the hands of criminals. Who will win, The Hague or Amsterdam? Translation: “Smoking Nederweed can have very damaging physical and mental effects. The number of reports of psychosis amongst the youth, after smoking Dutch hash has increased enormously, according to the Ministry of Health.” Source: De…

New Study Explains How Pot Kills Cancer Cells By Steve Kubby A new study published in Nature Reviews-Cancer provides an historic and detailed explanation about how THC and natural cannabinoids counteract cancer, but preserve normal cells. The study by Manuel Guzmán of Madrid Spain found that cannabinoids, the active components of marijuana, inhibit tumor growth in laboratory animals. They do so by modulating key cell-signalling pathways, thereby inducing direct growth arrest and death of tumor cells, as well as by inhibiting the growth of blood vessels that supply the tumor. The Guzman study is very important according to Dr. Ethan Russo , a neurologist and world …

By EDITH BEVIN April 2, 2004 A court may decide if a five-year-old girl allowed to smoke cannabis by her mother is removed from her family. The Northern Territory News yesterday revealed how the girl was witnessed by neighbours lighting a packed bong and breathing in the cannabis smoke. Neighbours said two other girls, sisters aged nine and 13, also smoked cannabis and that all three regularly drank alcohol and smoked tobacco. Assistant Secretary Community Services Carol Peltola said last night Family and Children's Service had not yet decided about the fate of the three children. ``Making a decision about what we're going to do depends on a whole range of …

Advertising Slogans Gone Wrong... Pepsi's "Come alive with the Pepsi Generation" translated into "Pepsi brings your ancestors back from the grave," in Chinese. An American T-shirt maker in Miami printed shirts for the Spanish market which promoted the Pope's visit. Instead of "I saw the Pope" (el Papa), the shirts read "I saw the potato" (la papa). The American slogan for Salem cigarettes, "Salem-Feeling Free", was translated into the Japanese market as "When smoking Salem, you will feel so refreshed that your mind seems to be free and empty." When Parker Pen marketed a ball-point pen in Mexico, its ads were supposed to have read, "it won't leak in your pocket a…

I was just watching the ABC, and saw a show about a group of people calling themselves loosley as "hacktavists". Their actual name is "cyber hippys", and they've come up with some great stradegies for protesting. They simply bomb target companies with email, objecting to some point. They claim to have made a lot of wins, and that it's the way forward for groups to protest globally. I realise this kind of thing has been done before, but I think it was largely a shit stir, bombing companies with malicous programms that just dump loads of email to a computer to slow up their works. But these guys are targetting companies over certain issues, and encourage all their f…

The day went pretty well. It started badly with unease in the guts, just feeling it was going to be a bad day somehow, as it turned out, I was wrong. I had what was the first smoke off the white rhino, a small bud taken early and left to dry as a sample, a taster, nice, then pills. A coffee, meet Martin (a fellow patient) get tinctured up and head down to Parliament for a day at the hustings. Arrived late after a hard slog through town dropping into various offices/shops along the way. Got to Parliament about 12:30pm and started leafleting. Very Hot day, saw Hans (a staffer) from the Greens who told me that Lee Rhiannon would be asking a question of Minister Della Bosca…

450 pounds of marijuana delivered to youth center March 17, 2004 — A surprising delivery to a Chicago youth center Wednesday-- 450 pounds of marijuana. The deliveryman found the drugs in a box marked "auto parts" at the El Centro De La Causa School in city's Pilsen community. He couldn't lift it, so opened the box to see if he could carry the various pieces. That's when police say he found the drugs. Investigators aren't sure if the delivery was sent to the wrong address or if the school was expecting a package and got the wrong one. dont know the source for this. found it on another site.
