List of Australian Organic NoTill Amendments and Components

Recommended Posts

Dunno about 600mls, but this was the inspiration for my hempy sog. Just never got the numbers up.. maybe this seasons indoor run...

https://www.420magazine.com/community/threads/come-sog-with-me-112-plant-2-liter-hempy-sog.138874/

you could be right might have been bigger than 600ml bottles

the down side in oz is the plant numbers required for bigger yields

but square meter growing space to yield is or can be massive

nice sites ozraptor ... some great organic Tassie and mainland products.

good for people in Tassie and saves on shipping for NTS products too.

will take the time to have a good look at the info on the Longley Organic Farm site ... interesting stuff.:)

They have an honesty shop next to farm with compost, COF, potting mix, worm poo, biochar, etc. And some nice veg, honey, jam too. Just check gum tree for current garden products.

There are a few items that haven't been mentioned yet.

Gypsum

Has anyone tried eco-flo?

https://ecoorganicgarden.com.au/products/soil-improvers/eco-flo-gypsum/

I don't know whether the Biochar addition would do much.

Is there organic sphagnum peat moss?

I currently use Te Em brand, but I don't think it is organic.

Any organic sources of rice hulls?

nice one ... many times the most natural and healthiest components have nothing do to with profit. would love to live close by to their farm. if in the city, sometimes community gardens can be a good source too ... they normally have had their soil tested. picked up a fair bit of comfrey and good crawlies from them.

there is a nz company that does spm and it looks pretty good ... only thing is that they sterilize most of their products, which I'm guessing would most probably kill most of the microbes. it can be bought in oz ...  https://www.tnzgrow.co.nz/peat/

sphagnum/peat moss is an interesting one ... cc referenced research from microbe man on the microbe levels of canadian vs alaskan sphagnum/peat moss ...

___

from cc ... The reason that retail potting soil mixes use peat moss vs. sphagnum peat moss is that the main harvesters, Sun Gro Horticulture (Sunshine Mixes and their straight SPM versions) and Premier Horticulture (Pro-Mix) have a very limited amount available because the harvest in Canada is tightly controlled by the Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss Association (CSPMA). There are only 15 companies allowed to harvest CSPM which isn't much when you consider that Sun Gro alone harvests more than the other 14 companies combined - something like 53%.

this is the link to microbe man's research: http://microbeorganics.com/#Canadian_Sphagnum_Peat

_____

not sure about eco-flo gypsum ... others might have more insight into OCP products ...

____

never been able to find organic rice hulls in oz ... also hope someone might have a source. some of the biodynamic rice farms might have some hulls hanging around. otherwise, organic brew suppliers also are a good bet as they use rice hulls in their homebrew.

I've bought a couple of organic products from Enfield Produce

Their Palagonite

https://www.petandgarden.com.au/organic-fertiliser/1910-palagonite-soil-support-organic-20kg-en.html?search_query=palagonite%27&results=1

is a good price at $38.50 for 20kg but it says on the label " Mt Sylvia Palagonite. Australian Organic Registered farm input. Allowed input 10575"

I'm unsure just how certified organic this makes it

Their Guano Gold

https://www.petandgarden.com.au/organic-compost-manure/1493-guano-gold-organic-fertiliser.html

is again well priced at $35/25kg but I haven't examined the packaging to see who certified it.

good website with very good prices oziraptor - they have some interesting stuff.

their basalt looks to be the same as the one sold on the biodynamic site and only costs $38, instead of $68 - bit of a saving that one and a bit of gouging from the biodynamics site. :)

i reckon if you're going to use guano, the Madura Guano Gold looks pretty good heavy metals wise too, especially compared to most. it's always a good thing when they do their own analysis and make it freely available: https://www.guano.com.au/userfiles/Files/GGKS_2018_Fert1808137243.pdf

i've attached a soil safety table that lists heavy metals limits in oz, canada, norway and the us ... australia seems to be very relaxed in this area. in any case, hopefully gives something to work off when looking at a soil or amendment analysis. as far as i know ppm equals mg/kg.
