Organic, pro-biotic and organic growing without bottled nutrients

Recommended Posts

I agree with ya Dng.

This is a thread about 9 second cars, not 12 second cars

I know what my water pH is, well a few years ago.

Probe the rootball in different places and the readings will be different even with Bunnings stuff.

I never check pH, even with the bunnings gear.

Some of the pleasure of the soil micros doing the job is not having to keep checking pH readings.

If you really wanna improve Bunnings stuff, buy some kelp and neem from DNG, amend with that, maybe 250ml worth to 60l soil.

That will make it maybe 10-15% better than it was.

Add quality worm castings will bring it up maybe another 10-15%.

Then you will have something thats 30% better than it was but it still won't be anywhere near a proper water only living soil like DNGs.

I have blended, mixed, amended, remixed etc. Cut it every which way.

If your starting with soil, it's worth the extra to start with better gear.

Now I have made posts in the past perhaps with a critical eye on the price point due to the fact that I mix my own and that's cheap for me to get a top quality product. However I make big quantities and use around the garden so it's justified for me.

Small personal grow with an emphasis on quality? Now that this stuff is on the market, pre mixed, plant and forget, water only? Fucking easy as indeed

Thanks! Its definitely rewarding making your own soil... In my experience you have to build it from scratch from seperate inputs at the right ratios with quality humus... Then you cant fail really. Any time Ive tried improving a commercial potting mix, it falls short.

This is more relevant to bottle growing and really wont be an issue if using a soil with quality humus. Plants and microbes will determine the pH in any given place in the rhizosphere for efficient nutrient exchange. They have been doing this for a lot longer than humans have been trying to adjust the pH.

True DNG

Thanks for that Carbon, nearly alll bunnings soils have slow release eps the orangic ones, but i saw a bad review of scots orangic one. I wonder if i took out all the ferts in the searles i have atm   (maybe were the gnats came from) , and flushed a few times and do as you sugguested. Water for the girls this morning is rainwater from the roof, also have a creek ( wonder if its water is good).

So easy in DNG soil, I agree.
