I think watts for watts LED can beat HPS quiet easily on a overall yield bases in weight it has also been proven but only by video that i have seen on youtube by an Aussie under 10 cob led's 500 watts total he harvested over 1 kilo but there are trade offs, the LED buds are not overly dense however LED or HPS still a good smoke either way

 

someone i know harvested i was told 14oz i originally thought it was 11oz from 700 watts (actual watts) of Mars LED the area was not utilized to full capability

That's like comparing someone's first grow to a seasoned pro. It's all about how many $$$ you want to put in. I can't compare my led with a kind led. I paid a quarter the price. I could never dream about that lvl light.
