1st grow - outdoor - Autoflowers & Regular

Recommended Posts

Time for an update!

Plants have copped abit of heat stress as i left them for a week and had some hot & humid days. Had to pluck a fair few dried out lower leaves which were also yellowing.

Chronic is doing OK, i expected more growth but Sydneys still getting too many cloudy days :(

Amnesia is quite small but its filling out slowly. Purchased a 30/60x microscope with LED and checking the crystals on it..its at week 9 now and the website says seed-harvest in 11 weeks but I think itll need a few extra weeks.

Ive taken 3 clones off the Chronic and put them in water as Im really trying to make this first grow as educational as possible not purely looking for biggest harvest. Ill post pics if they work out for me.

Here are some pics, the amnesia is so sticky that my dogs shed hair is getting stuck on it!

Looking really nice and healthy Zeeibi. Harvest time is coming!!! I wouldn't get to hung up on methods of tying down, just open her up so light can get in.

Thanks mate! Does the whole flushing thing prior to harvest go for soil grows also even if ur using soil with added nutes?

Also now that someone is viewing/responding i wanted to ask about harvesting based on trichome colors. I read somewere and saw some pictures saying that if you harvest with more amber trichomes that u will get more of a "couchlock" indica type of high.

Whereas if u harvest a little earlier with more clear/milky trichomes u get more of a "racey/headhigh" sativa type high? I was under the impression that genetics of the plant(eg. indica, sativa, hydbrid) determine the type/effect of the high?

Whats the go?

Yeah I would still be flushing for sure. Personally, I would probably put heaps of water through to try and flush out the "added nutes"

I have read similar about trichome colours too. I would think there would be a change in effect as the trichomes ripen, as the chemical composition of the trichomes change.

As to the effect being more indica or more sativa like, I do not know.

What if you grow pure strains, how can a 100% indica feel like a sati, and visa versa??

:peace:

FF

What if you grow a pure sat or indi?

Flushing seems like the go then. Would 1 week before be enough or 2 to be safe?

These are the pics that ive seen a few times around when researching, doesnt make sense to me really tho >.<!

I think it is best to try and get a couple of straight H2O feeds in. I gave mine their first flush today , I have about 75% cloudy, have seen the odd amber and still the odd clear, especially down low. In the current heat i don't think I'll have a problem giving them another flush in about 3 or 4 days, and will just play it by ear after that.

Here is something for consideration though, just to confuse things further.... We want to stop or reduce nutrient uptake during the flush, so perhaps we should be flushing outside the pH range we would normally use, in the hope that water is drawn into the plant leaving nutrients behind??? I have no idea if this has ever been researched, but the idea occurred to me recently.

Hi Zeeibi21

The trichome thing I am looking at now. With my last Auto she was downed with mainly cloudy with maybe 9.8% clear and about 0.2% amber. So very light as far as amber trichomes and the stone was great, not a couch lock by any means. It was an Ak47. With my current diesel I am letting it go until at least 25% amber. I am currently at about 65 days so still a minimum 5 days but more like 2-3 weeks before I start to even flush. Once I hit 70 days I will keep a regular eye on the Trichs as they seem to change from nothing to a smattering in like 24 hrs. The AK appeared to be a really really fast finisher so maybe the diesel will as well.

LST can seem like a never ending, never winning battle but it is so worth it as long as you are getting sun into the middle of the plant..I flush but probably not as much as I should(impatient) and it does work for me. I have tried with flush and without and I prefer the flush, cleaner, better taste as well  (IMHO)

Maybe the genetics of the plant has more to do with the high then trichome colors?

Yea the LST is gettin abit annoying now as ive got some really long thin branches that are doing across the pot and when they become colas i dno how they will hold themselves up :( cant really bend them back to stand upright yet either!

Checked the amensia auto again today seems like theres a few amber trichs on the lil sugar leaves but none on the bud itself.

Will defs try and be patient and do the proper flushing coz i cant stand bad tasting bud!

Your LST looks fine... I do mine like that too

correct genetics are the largest factor in your high

But you can control aspects of your high through selective harvesting (early/late/etc)

I've recently grown a 100% sativa, there is zero chance of the high being anything like an Indica, even if trichs went amber (amber trichs are actually a sign the plant is starting to become over-ripe)

With Indica's, I most always take at the start of seeing Amber Trichnomes, because I don't like to be glued to the lounge. I prefer a uppy high verses a stoned high.

You can get the high you like through harvesting at different times and taking notes for the next time....

:rambling:

Luck!
