zeeibi21
Hello all decided to make a grow log as I think it'll be beneficial to gain some experience off you guys as I go!First of all the medium is Yates potting mix with dynamic lifter + perlite of a 75/25 ratio for regular plant and a 50/50 ratio for the autoflowers. All are in 20L deep buckets with holes drilled in the bottom and sides.Autos were planted in the centre with some seed raising mix bout a fist-size deep to get em going. My regular seed is abit older and has survived a fair bit of trauma as I was a noob and planted it in some shitty soil but its survived and doing quite well now in my opinion. My regular seed came from a mates chronic strain which he thinks was a hermie(but isnt too sure) so abit worried but well see how she goes.. sprouted 14/9/2014My 2 autoflowers are Vision seeds amnesia haze and delicious cheese candy. Amnesia below sprouted 30/10/2014 and I Just saw the cheese candy sprout but didnt bother taking a picture yet will update on it in 2 weeks or so.Heres some pics of the chronic from post-trauna repotting to nowThe beginning of LST was bout a week ago and its grown quite alot since.. zeeibi21
Noticing alot of ants in my pots now should i be concerned with this? Also damping off killed my last cheese candy auto which is really annoying, hadnt even watered it or left the soil moist but must have been the 39 degree heat >.<! roysymmonds83
Hi zeeibi21, Where abouts are you located? I am in Adelaide and my plant is roughly the same age. I tried to LST my plant but I was too scared to break the stem. Its good to compare you plant against mine. Do you know how big yours will get? roysymmonds83
It looks pretty nice and healthy in that last pic. I did read somewhere that you shouldnt use direct metal into the soil for LST due to the conductivity of the material. It doesnt seem to be a problem for you though? roysymmonds83
Ooo never heard of that, i been using coathangers that i cut n jst making a hook out of them hasnt had any issues xcept its abit too weak now to actually hold the plant down so gotta tie it to the side of the potstill tryna work out how to best do this LST thing..urs looks pretty good i might jst drill big holes around the sides n tie it that way Mind the bad drilling you can see on some of the holes! haha, Im not really a handy man, or a green thumb for that matter. I have removed some of the green wire and replaced it with twine as its less bulky and I could tie it down a bit more accurately and spread out the leaves more. The trick with LST, I think, is to have the top of the plant (or what would be the top of the plant) below (in elevation only, not behind the leaves) the secondary or even tertiary leaves so that it wants to grow as much as possible. The theory behind it is that the top of the plant wants to be the top of the plant - as basic as I can explain it. After one day of LST, I can see it working with the top of the plant looking like it has tried to bend upwards while I was at work today. I'll post some pics when the change is noticeable enough to capture with a camera.
