12-1 good or no good?

Recommended Posts

The question is, why do all pictures of vegging 12-1 plants look so lush, healthy, green? With massive fan leaves.

I just want to clarify a couple of points here.. firstly, there are many people who grow using 18/6 and have big leaves (as stix mentioned. secondly, the leaves on my 12-1 grow now were massive, in the first few weeks, but came back to their normal size after there first growth spirt..

Hey puka and everyone.

Wow. GH and Vrod, you two arn't married by any chance?:applause:

I can see the problems with 12-1, but can't explain what i see. Every picture I see, really impresses me. D9's Red Devil is a phat arsed sexy beast. It makes sense though, why they have such fat leaves, and puka makes a very good point about flipping back to 24/0 to take advantage of that. I'll be watching D9's even closer now that he is doing just that. For me, this might be the biggest and best thing 12-1 has to offer.

My only problem with your argument Vrod is .....

Your only telling half truths. It is true, Canabis will finish faster under 11 or 10 hours for flower, however this does not mean maximum yield. The opposite is also true. Flower with 13 or 14 hours and yield will be increased but also flower time. I think 16 hours is a 90 day flower, they gotta be huge bud, JAH. 12/12 roughly 60 days. Its just a happy medium.

You can flower how ever you want to achieve the goals you set.

That stands true for growing in general too. No need for the ego and hate.

Dude, I was replying to the statement {GH's 4)} that shorter hours outside leads to longer flowering time. I know the yield is way down with only 10hrs.

Sorry if you found it misleading Vrod.

Hey guy's, here's my thoughts on this. 12-1 is for vegging and vegging only. The gas lantern method was used to keep plants vegging. Who put reducing hours for flowering in with 12-1, I don't know saving power seems to be the reason. But they are totally different concepts and should be treated as such.

11-13 works for me in the flower department, personally I would not go any lower.

IMO it's all about the veg, if it's not up to stratch the yield is down. 12-1 grows good plant's for reasons that can be explained in basic botany, another thing I'm finding is there is not as much stretch due to ( from what I've read ) there only being a 2hr reduction in light not 6 or even 12 (24/0) when switched to flower.

Vrod.

Puka, I wasn't saying people havn't achieved results with huge leaves using normal veg hours. I'm all for the tried and true methods. However I constantly see impressive plants with 12-1.

Hey Vrod. I knew that you know, you've read the book. Some people alas don't know. You make a good argument and I'm looking forward to seeing more complete 12-1 grows.

I've noticed that all those against 12-1, have never done the method themselves. However, all those that have, or are currently doing a 12-1, enjoy the results they've achieved.

Anyhoo, here's a fresh bud pic (cause we love trichome porn), taken of my Red Devil about 5 minutes ago. Consequently, it was veg'd on 12-1 (from seed), and now on 12/12, day 34 of flower.

It's stopped at a short height, good bushiness, and minimal stretch when flipped. My ONLY concern thus far with this method, is that it has made my fan leaves too large, and I have to fold them up neatly before I close the door on her, sorta like tucking her skirt in :good:

G'day Troops.

As I said before I'm using 12-1 and reckon it's a good thing. Good growth, rapid and lush too. But to be honest I have 3 grows on the go right now. (No wonder I'm so burnt out) My normal summer outdoor, which is still too small to be of any consequence, my indoor grow, there are plenty of pics in my thread. And a small grow in the green house. There are pics of that as well in the same thread. These two grows are all in the same soil mix, I measured everything that went into it, and each pot would be very close to the next one in content. And these two grows are almost identical. Until I flipped to 11-13 for flowering I would have defied any grower here to pick the difference, now that some stretch has occurred, in the indoor, they are streaking away, but until this, it was near as be a dead heat. I'm sticking with 12-1 purely because of the saving in power cost. That's something to mull over.
