Hey there fellow jedi..... Just wondering if anyone has used either the "Cocopeat"(that's the company's brand name.) "Easyfil" grow bags or the "Cocopeat" mixed cocopeat and bark media? I saw them advertised in the Practical Hydroponics and Greenhouses mag, and thought that what works for tomatoes, seems to work well for good ol mary jane too, so maybe these growbags could be a good way to grow. I've seen some people grow with other media in black plastic bags, like those you usually get rosebushes in, and I thought that this new product may be convienient for the avg. grower.... And if anyone out there has used the mixed peat + bark media, I'd love to hear your exp…

Instead of clay balls does anyone thing it is possible to grow in volcanic rocks? or large chunks of blue metal? Swing has never tried, but can get these products for free. Any advice would help Swing save a few bucks. Thanks in advance

I want to germinate some seeds in 1" rockwool cubes then put them into 6" inch netpots with expanded clay when the roots come through. Is it ok to leave the rockwool attached to the roots or does it have to be removed the way I do it with seeds germinated in soil ?

Been having trouble with my plants, not growing that well and getting unhealthy/browning leaves. Anyway, chatting to sols about a week ago and he suggested osmocote because slow releasing ferts are good in soil mixes. He also suggested adding a product called Trace Elements, which apparently has every essential element required for healthy plant growth. In the supermarket the other day I spotted some osmocote and it said it included Trace Elements. So I added a couple of handfulls to each pot and mixed it into the top inch or so of soil and gave them all a good watering. This was a couple of days ago and I can already see a big improvement. The plants have gone on …

Just wondering which ferts people are using for outdoor. I've got some Yates Thrive, All Purpose Soluble with a NPK of 27-5.5-9 (I've heard a ratio of at least 2-1-1 is best for veg). I thought I'd get in early before flower time to see what people are using for flowering. I've heard 1-2-2 is the best ratio for flowering, but the only thing close to that at Bunnings so a slow release non-soluble fert which is applied every 6 weeks. I don't really think that would suffice? Your thoughts peoples??

hey, A fair few people have been asking for this thread so here goes. Ill try to get some pics when possible as usual . If anyone has anything to add feel free.... Canna/dutch master/natures own- 250gram compressed block (expands to 2 kg aprox) 5kg compressed block (expands to 40 kg aprox) 20 kg granulated bag 50 kg granulated bag With the compressed blocks you need to expand them into a large rubbermaid style container(50-70ltr). It takes about 30 mins and expands about 8 times. The substrate is too hot to handle during this stage but after a hour or so is bearable with gloves. The coco still needs to be cleaned throughly. To do this i use the largest pot…

Hey all I am having different oppinions about the whole growing game, but i think i've found my perfect match because it's cheap and pretty simple for a first time grower... it's that hydro thing by robbieganjaseed ( http://www.ozstoners.com/420Australia/InvB...ct=ST&f=9&t=298 ) and so far, i think it's perfect, but i was thinking of growing it with a flood and drain system(unless someone can advise me better), but this is my only problem. I was looking on this site about it, but it didn't give too much specific info that i was hoping some of you peepil could give me. I'm planning on doing it for my first grow, so i'll probably be using bagseed. How much water/n…

i understand that everything else being equal, hydro will generally grow faster than soil, but my question is that is there any difference in the actual quality of the finished product? same question for fluoros. Yield will suffer, but will the actuall product be the same as if budded under a hps?

I use nitrozyme as a foliar spray from clone until about a week before bloom. It bushes everything up, but I read somewher the other night you should mix it with 1/4 strength nutes rather than filtered ph'ed water. The bottle says water. What's everyone else reckon?

I've tried out Headrush (a proudly Australian product) a bioponic mix for this run. It all works well... res maintanence is way down and the ph is pretty stable. The manufacturer says to maintain ph at 6.8, but this seems a bit high for bloom. Has anyone else used it? I would think that even though the nutes are mainly organic (which run at a higher ph than normal) there would be a lower optimum ph for bloom as compared to grow cycles.
