General Cultivation Q&A

I'm starting an indoor outdoor grown, well suited to the tropics with 11-13 hrs day light all year round. Have some afghans vegged and ready to go out soon. The thing is they will go into the ground in a patch and thats where the medium will stay also. So what are some of the options and consequences of different soil/medium combos. Gotta say fast veg is priority along with improving the patch. Can i have my cake and eat it too?

G'day stoners! Just a quick question. If you use coco as a growing medium, do you need to buy specific coco nutes to use in it? Because I already have some Canna Substra nutes (the ones sold at Bunnings), and I'd like to use them if I can, rather than spending heaps on new nutes. Or would I be better off just spending the money and getting the coco ones? Cheers for any advice. Peace!

Hey everyone, I've finally gotten around to planning my personal grow. I live in a small flat, so I'm thinking of building a grow box that's pretty unintrusive and can be hidden in a corner or under a desk easily. The dimensions I'm thinking of are 700mm high x 600mm wide x 800mm deep. DWC had always looked the most attractive as far as hydro goes, seems pretty straight forward and means I won't need to deal with soil. But yesterday I spotted these autopot things which look more suited to my problem. No pumps and it looks easy to setup. I was worried slightly about the bubbling noise from the pump in a DWC, and these autopots seem harder for a newbie like me to …

A buddy of mine says he can make a female plant from any seed. The secret? Temperature! He's told me that there are many sites on the web where you can confirm this however I've not found them. I'm not growing at the moment so I can't confirm this but here's what he says: The gender of a plant is determined by temperature of the soil when the seed germinates, the cooler the soil the better chance of a female. He puts his pot of soil and fert in the refrigerator for three days after which he places the seed in the soil and covers the pot with plastic wrap. Hi all, Just a small question here. Just wondering how to i determine if the seed can still be used and whether its a male or female? End of my party i cleaned out the stash box and found about 50+ seeds in it. So I was just wondering if still can be used or not?

First off we need the equipment: Plastic wrapped rockwool cubes that have been soaking in PH corrected water, sharp scissors, rooting hormone (I use Clonex Purple), a drink bottle cap and a good marking pen and a humidity dome. The drink bottle lid is to pour some Clonex into, that way I don't contaminate the whole bottle by dipping the cuts into that.

I would like some information about the drug speed.... If a person has been on speed for a while, then goes onto the methadone program can that person still take speed....because I had someone at my place and I could have sworn that she was speeding, as she wouldn't stop talking and always moving around (not keeping still)... I looked at her eyes but she had too much eyemakeup on to get a proper look..... My son tried to tell me she was straight and it was the Methadone.....I recon my son thinks Im stupid and that I believe everything he tells me...F...k I hate hard drugs

hey, ive currently got a 3 week old outdoor plant and at the top of it there is a cluster of flowery looking things that are a dark redish purple colour. there is also traces of red along the main stem of the plant. would someone please be able to shed some light on me if this is normal or not. it also hasnt shown any signs of what sex it is but has green pistils in a v shape throughout it. any advice/ info would be much appreciated.

I've had a brainstorm . We've got an old waterbed here, so I'm thinking of taking the frame and set it up, place the liner inside it, and start tossing bags of coco cor into it. Use it as a typical veggie garen kinda idea, but with all the advantages of hydroponics!. Prob wont be able to do this right now, but I reckon I'll give it a go but. rob

How often should I flush during the grow? I do it only twice coz I'm lazy, and I've taken an EC reading of the nutes when I do flush- I run to waste- and it is as high as 30, I keep flushing til its down to 10 or 12, then feed as normal. Should I be doing this more often? aussie1
