http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=258445 Top UK cop says legalize all drugs Monday Oct 15 21:02 AEST One of Britain's most senior police officers is set to call for the legalization of all drugs. Chief Constable of North Wales Richard Brunstrom said drugs, including heroin and cocaine, should be legalized in a shift away from a failed UK policy based on "prohibition", The Independent newspaper reported. "If policy on drugs is in future to be pragmatic not moralistic, driven by ethics not dogma, then the current prohibitionist stance will have to be swept away as both unworkable and immoral," Brunstrom was quoted as saying in the newspaper. Brunstrom said …

In recent times stories have done the rounds of super-strength cannabis or skunk that can be up to 20 or 30 times more potent than it was a decade ago. New research released in the UK last week suggests that although there does appear to be a small rise in potency, there is little evidence that super-strength skunk is dominating the market. Two studies analysed nearly 550 samples of so-called skunk seized by the police. Both concluded that the average content of the main psychoactive agent in skunk strains of cannabis, THC, has doubled from seven percent in 1995 to 14 percent in 2005, contradicting recent claims that most of the skunk on sale in Britain now routinely ha…

The destructive impact of cannabis on indigenous communities was rammed home to Coroner Alastair Hope yesterday as he was confronted with more proof of the squalor endured by Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley. A young Aboriginal man living in a remote community in the Fitzroy Valley told Mr Hope he had been admitted to Graylands Hospital twice because of heavy cannabis use. Kelvin Gordon, 26, said many young people in his community of Yiyili, 180km east of Fitzroy Crossing, smoked the drug. He said he had spent a month in Graylands psychiatric hospital but no longer used cannabis. Mr Hope spent the day visiting indigenous communities on the outskirts of Fitzroy …

Research from Otago University's long-running Christchurch Health and Development study released yesterday showed 25-year-olds more commonly drove while under the influence of cannabis than alcohol. The Otago University figures supported Environmental Science and Research (ESR) data published by The Press this week which gave the first glimpse of the huge problem of…

by Jon Gettman High Times, March 1995 In 1970, marijuana was placed on Schedule 1 of the Drug Enforcement Administration's controlled-substances list, largely because scientists feared that, like opiates, it had an extremely high potential for abuse and addiction. But the discovery of THC receptor sites in the brain refutes that thinking, and may force both scientists and the DEA to re-evaluate their positions. INTRODUCTION The next century will view the 1988 discovery of the THC receptor site in the brain as the pivotal event which led to the legalization of marijuana. Before this discovery, no one knew for sure just how the psychoactive chemical in marijuana w…

MPP Update #29 The Federal War on Marijuana Becomes a War on Children 2007-09-10 >> legal category >> MPP Update By Dan Bernath Automatic weapons. Check. Helicopters. Check. Dogs. Check. Bulletproof vests. Check. You may not buy the government's characterization of its campaign against medical marijuana patients as a "war on drugs," but increasingly violent, militaristic tactics in recent months offer a troubling glimpse into the federal law enforcement community's mentality: To them, this is war. Raids on medical marijuana dispensaries throughout California July 17 by federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents, often with local law en…

I hate to be the bearer of more bad news. Could this sit be classed as a crime site? This government is trying to pass some very Nazi type laws lately. The election can't come soon enough. http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...2-15306,00.html from the australian.news.com.au

Let's be clear- the government isn't opposed to people using drugs. However, you have to use the drug that is controlled and taxed, and the one which is responsible for more violence, motor accidents and drug abuse related illness than any other. Just what we need, a pub on every streetcorner. How about some more drive-through liquor stores? Kerb service with coldies! Chicks on rollerskates delivering jugs of draught. Hell, put a keg on every right turn lane and get those homeless windscreen washers into the taxable system, making excise revenue. Keep in mind that this is the same government which so believes its own propaganda as to pass laws based in zero-tolera…

Strong Canadian dollar said hurting pot exports VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - The strong Canadian dollar has hit the illegal marijuana sector just as it has other industries that export to the United States, one of Canada's best known legalization advocates said on Thursday. But western marijuana growers have also benefited from Canada's strong economy, especially the booming Alberta oil patch, which has increased domestic consumption, according to Marc Emery, a founder of the British Columbia Marijuana Party. The Canadian dollar touched parity with the U.S. dollar last week, topping a rise of some 60 percent over the past five years. On Thursday, it was still…

Geocities: The Digital Genesis
In the bustling digital streets of the late '90s, Yahoo Geocities stood out as a haven for burgeoning online communities. A Hiatus and the Phoenix's Ascent
Come 2022, OZ Stoners entered a period of unplanned dormancy, lasting a challenging 12 months. But, reminiscent of the legendary phoenix, this hiatus was transformed into an opportunity for rebirth. The platform underwent comprehensive upgrades, server enhancements, and a revitalising overhaul. As it emerged, it did so with a phoenix-like rise, soaring higher and brighter, dedicated to serving the community with even more zeal and purpose.
Ode to the Trailblazers
The tapestry of OZ Stoners is woven with the dedication and vision of its founding members. Their relentless drive and contributions have been the bedrock of its success. While many of these pioneers continue to shape its direction, we pause to honor those trailblazers we've lost over time. Their indomitable spirit continues to inspire and resonate within the cannabis community. - Memorial Hall
