ABC Queensland Posted June 2, 2008 14:05:00 http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/06...tm?site=idx-qld A 44-year-old Sunshine Coast man has appeared in the Supreme Court in Brisbane charged with establishing a hydroponic drug crop inside his Buderim home in the state's south-east. The court heard Scott David Woodforth was found by police last year with almost four kilograms of cannabis sativa, which he had cultivated from two plants growing under lights in a hidden room. Woodforth admitted to being a heavy user of the drug for pain relief after a car accident and said that he had grown it so he would not have to go to drug dealers. Justice Rosyln Atkinson ac…

His lawyer Shane McAnulty told Deputy Chief Magistrate Helen Syme his client was in hospital being treated for cancer and, on his behalf, entered guilty pleas to four counts of possessing cannabis. Mr McAnulty said the pleas were entered on condition that the cannabis was considered for personal use, rather than for supp…

Author: James Slack Date: 13th May 2008 Source: The Mail Copyright: 2008 Associated Newspapers Ltd Now cannabis dealers will escape jail despite government pledge for tougher punishments Cannabis dealers will escape jail, despite Gordon Brown's decision to reclassify the drug, it emerged last night. The U-turn was supposed to signal tougher punishments for those who flout the law. But, under papers issued by the Sentencing Guidelines Council yesterday, magistrates will still be advised that a community order may be satisfactory for those who push Class B substances, the new grade for cannabis. This is despite the maximum penalty being a 14-year pri…

http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/44730000/jpg/_44730017_house_thermogram466.jpg By Julian Joyce BBC News By toughening the law on cannabis the government hopes to drive a crackdown on UK "farms", many of which have sprung up in recent years. In the cellar beneath Jimmy's house, cannabis seedlings flourish under bright lights. Upstairs, taking over half the attic, more mature plants flower in lamp-lit trays, amid the hum of automatic water and nutrient delivery systems. This is "hydroponic" cannabis - grown without soil in trays. Jimmy's indoor "farm" is one of many to have sprung up behind the walls and closed curtains of houses across the UK in recent year…

Study Finds No Cancer-Marijuana Connection

I had a quick look through the topics and didn't notice that anyone else had posted this so here 'tis. It is from 2006 so I wouldn't be surprised if it's already been sourced but it is a good refresher Interesting article about the largest marijuana study ever done and there being found to be no correlation between smokin' weed and cancer. Apparently THC actually kills aging cells and stops them from becoming cancerous. I haven't read much deeper into the study or the studies that show there is a correlation but at the moment this article makes me happy and I suppose that's what counts. Take that right wing fascists . Fism Author: Marc Kaufman Date: May 26, 2…

americanchronicle.com The War on Excuses: Why Cannabis Should Be Legalised This is not a new debate, it has raged on through the late 20th Century and through to our current Dark Year of Our Lord 2008. Everyone knows that cannabis is illegal, ignorance is no excuse for being caught at midnight in the middle of a park with a big joint hanging out of your mouth and singing songs of religious praise with an ironic twinge, and I´d imagine the police would come down pretty hard on you for at least two things in that sentence. But the big question is why? Why has this small plant become the object for so much political hate, at least in the open? I have money riding on a su…

Greetings, Stoners! The rich narrative of the Australian cannabis community, with OZ Stoners standing tall at its helm, is a blend of trials, tribulations, heartening comebacks, and the unwavering dedication of its members. Let’s delve deep into this riveting tale.
Geocities: The Digital Genesis
In the bustling digital streets of the late '90s, Yahoo Geocities stood out as a haven for burgeoning online communities. It was here, amidst this digital renaissance, that OZ Stoners planted its foundational roots. This marked the dawn of a space that would go on to become synonymous with Australian cannabis culture.
Navigating the Digital Tempests
On its journey, OZ Stoners faced formidable challenges. Between Yahoo's unpredictability and the unexpected anti-cannabis stance of titans like Meta, steering the ship required a blend of adaptability, tenacity, and foresight.
A Hiatus and the Phoenix's Ascent
Come 2022, OZ Stoners entered a period of unplanned dormancy, lasting a challenging 12 months. But, reminiscent of the legendary phoenix, this hiatus was transformed into an opportunity for rebirth. The platform underwent comprehensive upgrades, server enhancements, and a revitalising overhaul. As it emerged, it did so with a phoenix-like rise, soaring higher and brighter, dedicated to serving the community with even more zeal and purpose.
Ode to the Trailblazers
The tapestry of OZ Stoners is woven with the dedication and vision of its founding members. Their relentless drive and contributions have been the bedrock of its success. While many of these pioneers continue to shape its direction, we pause to honor those trailblazers we've lost over time. Their indomitable spirit continues to inspire and resonate within the cannabis community. - Memorial Hall
