A couple of months ago I asked my GP about obtaining cannabis to treat my ongoing symptoms.

"Ohh ahhh, I don't know anything about the processes, I wouldn't know where to start..."

Being that I'm in SA and there being no clinic's here (our state Gov't (Liberal) still have their heads buried firmly up their own arses)  I thought the whole process would be a waste of time

I went investigating and found a clinic in NSW, who would go through the whole process online.

 

So after a couple of weeks of paperwork both from myself and my GP, today I got the call from the clinic and have had the initial approval.

I now have to obtain the approval from the TGA but from what I've been told this should not be a problem and should take less than a week.

The Dr I spoke to has told me that what he would be prescribing is a CBD and THC combination as my situation is pain related.

I asked the Dr about the cost of the medication itself as it is NOT on the PBS and I have to say it is NOT cheap.

The Dr himself would not actually tell me a defined cost but advised me to call the chemist in Victoria.

Upon doing so I was told $270/50ml + postage ($30), so $300 delivered. First thought "Fuck, it'd be cheaper to go buy an ounce" but have decided to follow through with the process.

 

At this point I have not been told of the recommended dosages, so how long that 50ml is going to last I am unsure.

I am also unsure if I may be able to get my local chemist to get it in for me or whether it needs to come from an approved compounding chemist, solely in Victoria.

 

So the processes have been started. The dr and the prepaid TGA approvals have cost me $550 so far (that's without the script itself), so let's see how much more it's gonna cost

When I have any further info I will let you all know.

Sorry to say Micmac but your experience with the pain specialist is NOT unusual. I haven't found a specialist who'll agree. I gave up even trying to inform them due to some of the entrenched attitudes.

I have to manage the best way for me, not them. I can take opiates till I'm so blocked up I'm like the constipated mathematician….  …..have to work it out with a pencil. lol And they'd be happy with that, me? not so much.

Some GP's have a little information and as they say "A little information can be a bad thing..." Some Dr's will admit they don't know. Some are sooo against it, even asking is fraught with danger. But there are some who are more than willing to assist without very much difficulty at all (other than the $$$).

I have to agree with Dingo, even if it is just for the approval, use one of the services already doing it all. They know the processes. Why be trying to reinvent the wheel when these services have already invented the whole bike?

It'll still probably cost ya around $500 for all the approvals, although the costs may have dropped since I did it. The cost of the product has dropped a bit.

P.S. You might be able to pick up those containers at a chemist, minus the labels. But then the labels wouldn't be hard to make up

Hi Aqua ,My doctors   Bulk Bill me all the time which is good cause I know how much they charge ,As before  I was on DSP it would cost me heaps.My pain management  specialist works at a Gov Hospital in Perth so I am not charged for my  treatment or injection in my back. I count myself very lucky in this way. There are good doctors out there for sure you just gotta talk to people an ask if they have a good doctor or a arshole of a doctor an don't worry I have had my share of arshole doctors in my time.

 

Hi Micmac I am aged 64yr an it took me the best of twenty years to find the doctors  that I have now. All this shit that has happend to me started at age 18yr old so I have been through the ringer an come out the other side still in one peace.I am one guy they could not Root   Shoot or Electrocute. SO hang in there Micmac.

I too have been on that medical roundabout Dingo and if you find a good dr, KEEP THEM CLOSE. They can be a very rare thing. I think anyone with complex medical has meet THOSE type of dr's.

I have a real good one now but, ohh, some need a reality education (down a dark alley with a baseball bat, that'd learn them ).  Arrogant sods

Hi ,Crew I made my last payment to the cannabis clinic this morning ,an the nurse told me that the clinic doctor had sent off my TGA  appov form ,So hopefully I should have scripts on the way soon.

 

 This  has been a real  breeze to go through no hidden logs to trip over or shit holes to fall in.

 

So I would recommend anyone one that is thinking of doing the same ,Go for it just remember that it will cost quite a few dollars but it is worth it in the long run if you have a hard time growing medical cannabis for yourself or if you need it for your sick child.

Hi crew,Just a quick up date on my medical cannabis access.

 

I just got off the phone with the nurse from the medical cannabis access clinic.

 

The nurse rang me to let me know that my TGA approval has gone through an to set up another appointment with the cannabis access clinic doctor for this Saturday so he can hit base with me again an let me ask any question I may have. Plus the nurse sent me an approval for me to be Bulk Billed.  

 

An to write a script out for me for the medical cannabis CBD - THC oil.

 

Now that is fast service if I do say so myself

 

Well I am one very happy old camper.

OK, so I made an order on the 9th and it's been received today, so that's not too bad, considering.

 

On another note. I've been put forward for a trial of another oil. This one is a high THC oil, with 22mg/ml THC, rather than a combination THC/CBD oil as the previous oil was.

The bonus with this one is that (as part of the trial) it's FREE, so I've got nothing to loose.

The host oil, in this case is a sunflower oil, so again it's a digestible, not a smokable oil.

I had the bloke at the local P.O. process the delivery and he tells me there's another delivery coming Monday. Let's see

Hey Merl1n what kindda vaporiser have you got.

 

I have been eyeing off that new hybrid volcano vaporiser they have got out now,I checked out a youtube video on it an it seems to work really good.

 

 The old volcano vaporiser that I have is getting quite old now so thinking of getting a new one soon,The only problem is the price of the new hybrid volcano= $995.00 an free postage but if it last as long as this old one has it is worth every dollar it costs.This old one is just under 20 yr's old.

Got the approval for hubbys new oil 20% thc 1%cbd should get it monday or tuesday latest now. Nurse said its safe to vape because alit of his clients do.

Was told 100mg is still only $322 inc postage.

Roads are getting busier so cant be stuffed driving down the coast to pick it up.

Great news for you both Merl and Dingo.

Dingo just remember the thc is thca. We all know how to change that to our kinda thc[emoji6]
