You could redirect the airflow on the intake fan, some ducting or something to direct the air somewhere else would probably do the job.

Yeah Taz, thats a good idea, I have some spare ducting. Later on when the plants are bigger, i can re-position it so that it blows upwards thru the plants.

Do you think the problem with the 2 plants is windburn caused from drying the leaves out too much. It is only those 2 in direct line with the air intake that have suffered.

Sounds like it, although the true cause would be excessive transpiration. Yeah, you've hit the nail on the head I think. Still, it could just be diffs in seeds, it can be quite large sometimes.... The duct is a good idea.

 

Temps should be kept below 30 if possible, although perfectly good pot has been growing for thousands of years in higher temps. Still, they shut down their stomata after they get too hot, to prevent water loss, so unless you can water the piss out of them and look after them like mad, keep the temps under 30. This can be hard in summer, hids put out a crapload of heat as well as light. But with a good fan and good design, it should be fine.

Just a quick update guys.

 

I have suspicions that the tallest, spindly plants are going to be male. There is quite a considerable gap between the internodes on these plants. They are all the same age, have had the same nutes and light.

 

I have transferred them from the shed to another grow room and put them on 12/12, 2 days ago to see what they really are.

 

There has been a hell of a difference in the heights, growth rates and health of the 3 varieties that I have going. Thankfully I will have a couple of really good mother plants from this lot so I wont have to piss about with seeds again.

 

Starting off from seed is by no means an easy task but when you know no one that you can get clones from, that is the only option left to us.

 

Anyway, these are the ones that I think are males.

Here is a AK48, a K2 and 2 clones from a mate. He doesnt know what they are. Notice how one has really taken off and the other doesn't know what to do.

 

Never growing from seed again. I was rapt this morning when I checked the clones that I had taken from my pet plant. 6 out of 6 well and truly rooted. Pardon the pun.

This is my pet. It is a K2. I have never grown such a bushy plant. I have already taken 6 clones from it and may have to take more. The distance between the internodes is only about 15mm. I just hope it is a female.

This is the other grow room with the suspect males in it on 12/12.

 

The balance of my plants ( 9 ) are outside as they are only miniatures compared with this lot. I dont know why these have stretched as they have because they have always been about 500mm away from the light.

 

I had them in the other grow room so had to do some sorting out because of the different heights and also I wanted to put them on 12/12 to find out what they are.

 

How much longer do you rekon I should keep the others on 24/24 before putting them to flower? ::

These are the females. I might let them grow another couple of weeks before changing to 12/12. What do you guys rekon. Apparently they will still grow quite a bit after the change, is that right and if so do you have any idea by how much. Height is a bit limited in here.

 

Do you think I should scrog them ?. I still really fancy that idea but I have been told I am better off growing them tall to get big buds. I am not really worried about the bud size so long as I get a good crop of them.
