Whats the reason for the screen at the base of the plants ?

makes it easier to train the plants from really young with (I think)

OKies my mate has a dual layered scrog setup for the folowing purpose...

 

First layer is to train the plants under before turning them....then he turns them...allows them to stretch and because he knows the strain will stretch to a certain point the next level is to support the immense buds...

 

I would find personally that training them under two mesh screens not time worthy for me...

To each, their own , plants sometimes grow their stems close together vertically and need something to spread them a little....when I had this problem I used to stick some plastic drinking straws with a "V" cut into each end to spread them apart a little untill they went through the screen.
