Thought this was very interesting... Enjoy! Love and a squish, Alison xx Cognitive functioning enhanced by cannabis use in schizophrenia By Liam Davenport 01 November 2007 Schizophr Res 2007; 96: 169-184 MedWire News: Cannabis use by patients with schizophrenia is associated with enhanced cognitive functioning, with both frequency and recency of use linked to better neuropsychological performance, conclude Australian researchers. There is a lack of understanding of the neuropsychological effects of cannabis use in schizophrenia, partly due to conflicting evidence from the few studies that have explored the association. To investigate further, Carissa Cou…

Source: http://esperance.yourguide.com.au the laws that get broken by sending illegal things in the mail is a bit of a concern, but the police think that because they picked up 15g over 2 packages that using the mail for sending drugs is futile? I once had the aussie post chick roll her eyes as she handed me a package with a couple of ounces in it because you could sorta smell it and if that isnt enough one time when a package was sent to me under a name i made up that didnt get collected, i had to walk into the post office and collect it claiming that my friend hurt himself and im picking up his mail for him almost forgot about all the seeds and clones that get se…

PREMIER Anna Bligh has pledged to crack down on dangerous drug-addled drivers with Queensland police due to begin roadside testing within weeks. Police expect to drug-test up to 20,000 drivers in the next 12 months, with the number of roadside tests likely to increase in the following years. "It's time to get tough – don't say you weren't warned," Ms Bligh said yesterday after the state's road toll sped past 300. Drivers will be tested for cannabis, ecstasy, speed and ice as well as breathalysed in roadside drug and alcohol blitzes around the state. "The prospect of my family being on the same road as someone on ice terrifies me," Ms Bligh said. As of yesterday, t…

British Crime Survey statistics showed that the proportion of 16- to 24-year-olds using cannabis slumped from 28% a decade ago to 21% now, with its declining popularity accelerating after the decision to downgrade the drug to class C was announced in January 2004. The BCS figures published yesterday showed that cannabis is beginning to lose its allure with teenagers. The proportion of frequent users in the 16-24 age group, who were using the drug more than once a month, fell from 12% to 8% in the past four years. Since cannabis was downgraded the proportion of young people using it has fallen each year from 25.3% in 2003-4 to 20.9% now. Among those aged 16 to 59, the pr…

Victoria Police have charged a 17-year-old boy with trafficking after finding 85 grams of heroin and 28 grams of amphetamines in Melbourne's inner north. Melbourne Regional Response Unit members yesterday executed a search warrant at a flat in Carlton, where they uncovered heroin with an approximate street value of $30,000 and 'ice' valued at around $5,000. "A small amount of cannabis was also seized along with equipment for trafficking and stolen goods including a plasma TV, projector, DVD player, mobile phones and luxury watches," a Victoria Police spokeswoman said. Police have charged the teenager with trafficking and being in possession of heroin and amphetamine…

What's Inside: Nyquil, Fortified With Powerful Narcotics! 2007-10-23 >> news category >> general Source: wired.com Acetaminophen One of the many wonder-pharmaceuticals that can be derived from coal tar, acetaminophen was used for nearly a century as a painkiller and fever reducer before anyone figured out how it worked. We now know that as the drug breaks down in the body, it turns into a cannabinoid: yes, stoners, the same type of compound that makes marijuana so irresistible. Doctors also once thought acetaminophen made users more talkative and outgoing. Current research suggests this idea was half-baked. Dextromethorphan HBr A cough suppress…

Ali plucks a sprig of the cannabis sativa plant and sniffs its distinctive leaves with appreciation. This Lebanese farmer's field of marijuana, a splash of bright green on the sun-baked plains of eastern Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, will yield around 33 pounds of cannabis resin, or hashish, which he will sell for about $10,000, many times more than he could hope to earn from legitimate crops and for almost no work at all. "All I have to do is throw the seeds on the ground, add a little water, and that's it," says Ali, who spoke on the condition that his full name was not used. "I would be crazy not to grow [marijuana]." It has been a bumper year for marijuana cultivation …

RISING dependence on cannabis is the driver behind a Wodonga program to help users quit the drug. The first session of Cautious with Cannabis will be run at Wodonga’s Upper Hume Community Health Service on November 12 at 6pm. Service rural outreach diversion worker, Nick Bannon, said about 300,000 Australians used cannabis each day. Mr Bannon said there is no specific usage figures available for the North East. “But the number of cannabis users is always growing. It’s growing on a daily basis,” he said. Cautious with Cannabis is aimed just as squarely at family and friends as cannabis users. “It explains exactly what cannabis is and how it is used, the effects…

Does anyone think high profile people who get busted could be recruited to campaign the cause against prohibition in general? If there were enough of them it might start to have an effect. Lot's of Michelle (what's her name?_got busted with e in Bali) might be nice. Gotta take support from the mainstream media. BTW... did anyone see that US. Presidential Candidate Ron Paul called for an end to the War on Drugs?....clever man. I wish we had someone with the balls he's got.
