Heard this the other day thought it would be interesting to read more on it (boy was i wrong) Amy Winehouse's (or Winey Drughorse as i affectiantly call her) excessive drug consumption, with one binge after the next, has left doctor with dears that she could be brain damaged. The troubled ‘Rehab’ singer indulged in a 36-hour pot smoking session in July this year, which left her vomiting uncontrollably and hallucinating. Medics also warned the hellraiser will die if she has another drug binge and worried she would break bones during a fit, which a friend said was “like something from ‘The Exorcist’” - the infamous horror movie in which then-child actress Linda B…

Cheech & Chong Higher Than Martin Scorsese By Angela Watercutter September 04, 2008 Underwire ...Wired Blog Network http://blog.wired.com/underwire/2008/09/cheech-chong-hi.html Web traffic numbers are boring. Unless, of course, they can be used to lord over one's opponent ("More unique users on Tuesdays than 4chan!"). Which means, now that Cheech & Chong's MySpace profile has gotten more adds in 24 hours than Martin Scorsese's did, well, it's time to take notice. The classic counterculture comedians signed up well over 100,000 "friends" in the first day following the relaunch of their page to promote a new tour, according to the social networking site. What …

Cannabis Doctor Fights Back PR Cannazine 4 September 2008 http://pr.cannazine.co.uk/content/view/600/27/ A practising doctor who was secretly investigated over his medical cannabis recommendations for patients has sued state and local law enforcement officials. Dr. Alfonso Jimenez, a licensed osteopath, is accusing the San Diego and Laguna Beach police departments, District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis and others of conspiring to entrap him, in violation of a federal injunction against investigating doctors who recommend cannabis “based on a sincere medical judgment.” Jimenez says local authorities posed as patients in his San Diego medical office in May 2006, then wor…

I love the media, they're such a bunch of knobs. http://www.smh.com.au/news/health/dope-smo...7097241179.html "More than a third of people who present at Sydney emergency departments after smoking cannabis are violent and half have mental health problems such as severe anxiety and suicidal thoughts, shattering the image that dope smokers are relaxed and sleepy, researchers have found." Hmm, OK so did the MJ CAUSE those problems or are these folks who have other issues and just happen to use MJ as well? "The data, collected by the National Cannabis Prevention and Information Centre, at the University of NSW, indicates that cannabis users can be as aggressive as cry…

The potency of cannabis gathered in police seizures has dropped, new official data reveals, casting doubt on one of the government's key arguments for reclassifying the drug from class C to class B. Figures collected by the Forensic Science Service and seen by guardian.co.uk show that the potency of herbal cannabis, which includes the strong "skunk" strain, has dropped from 12.7% to 9.5% since 2004, when it was first moved from class B to the less serious class C. This means that samples collected by the police are now weaker than when David Blunkett, the then-home secretary, downgraded the drug in 2004. According to the figures the level of THC - the main psychoact…

Well this can't be good..... Full article here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtm...ciprints107.xml Basic point is, that a new technology now gives police the ability to to detect THC (and other drugs) in fingerprints. So for example if you get arrested and they fingerprint your house or car or something you were holding, they can now detect from the oils from your fingers that formed the fingerprint on the object they fingerprinted if you had been doing drugs.

this is amazing news for us stoners considering we number in the millions and the greens are the only major party to actually support cannabis law reform in our favour. if we mass email them saying if they want our votes in the future the only thing we currently care about is cannabis law reform in our favour we might be able to get one of the greens to stand up and use it as leverage over the rudd government in a previous story which i cant be bothered to find at the moment, the greens said if the rudd government wants to take tens of billions of dollars out of the economy its going to have to be replaced somewhere along the line to protect the economy. so bothers…
