Hello everyone, i am adventuring out into some more organic gardening my main focus will be on Microorganisms and making them work for me and my garden. i will be learning all of this as i go so please if you see any mistakes please feel free to point them out or correct them. i am brewing a lacto bacillus serum which will be the workhorse of my current project. the lacto serum will be used to make bokashi compost, which will in turn be used to make a bokashi/vermicompost. this vermikashi will be added to coco as a substrate. the lacto serum will also be used to brew a fermented fish hydrsylate fertiliser which will be combined with a plant based fermented tea using…

some info & opinion on the use of both from kisorganics.com https://www.kisorganics.com/blogs/news/99806785-peat-vs-coco This can be a hotly debated topic among growers as to what's the best media for growing plants. In this article, I'll weigh in with my opinion on the subject as there are Pros and Cons to both. "Sphagnum" is a genus of approximately 120 different species of mosses known as "peat moss." Sphagnum and the peat formed from it do not decay readily because of the phenolic compounds embedded in the moss's cell walls. Peat moss can also acidify its surroundings by taking up cations, such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium, and releasing hydrogen ions. …

I've been heavily into planted aquariums for some time now, and the cheapest method of fertilizing the tanks is with dry nutrients blended as needed. K2SO4, KNO3, KH2PO4, etc, etc. So now the time has come to grow my own weed for personal use and I've been looking at fertilization methods, and it seems that everyone uses store bought blends or blends of these store bought blends. The local BGA here sells nutrients for around $1/kg (20-25kg bags), so while the initial outlay may be higher, the savings in the long run are immense. Not to mention that given that you have complete control over N/P/K/S/Ca/Mg/Trace ratios, you can tinker as needed during the various cycles…

First time post, first time grow! Am setting up a little something something (cupboard, LED, coco) and am wondering if there's anyone from Perth lurking here - and if so, where the good hydroponic shops in town are. Not really too keen on getting everything online, even with the discounts. Play it safe. Thanks Perthies! Look forward to sharing my diary here if and when.

Hey all, Haven't contributed to the OZ Stoners community for years ...seems my original profile still exists but impossible to re-establish ...but that's not why I am posting. I have just spent ages creating a growroom journal spreadsheet with tons of formulas, calculators, conversions, etc - which I would like to share with the Oz Stoner crew. Problem is I can't figure out how to upload it here... Anyone have any ideas on how to go about this? I originally made it for personal use - so I could keep good records of my own grows and to simplify things like ppm conversion, lucas formula addback, US to metric conversion, etc, etc. I've just started using it …

Have any one tried or am using Plus-C from Microbe Life. I read a lot of good things about it in the USA. Where did you buy it from? https://www.microbelifehydro.com/products/hydroponics/natural-and-organic/

Has anyone used Earth care powerfeed plant food? Where i live in nz we are pretty limited as to what we can find in the way of suitable nutrients. Best we have is a very small range of general fertilisers from bunnings. Im tryna stay away from chemical concoctions and growing in compost-rich soil in 10L pots under hps lights. I found this powerfeed stuff that looks to be about as good as it gets but as we all know appearances can be deceiving. Any thoughts on this product and how it can be best used would be great

I have just managed to get finally be able to set up a hydro grow and relied on the shop people to provide all the relevant stuff. I have an EC meter thing that apparently is really useful to monitor water temp, PH, and nutrient levels (EC so I'm told) however the device doesn't come with any info just instructions on cleaning it and calibrating the ph. Apparently I have to set the meter with my desired water temp.Ph and EC levels and it will then tell me when they deviate.... butI cant seem to find any info on what the desired levels for EC are, I haven't checked on Ph or water temp yet but if anyone knows it please advise as it would save me hunting for that later on. …

Hi all, i suppose this topic mainly relates to gorilla growing & seed banks. As you scoure thru different banks looking 4 good outdoor strains that are going to yield, it becomes confusing!! what one bank says will deliver up to 800grm per plant, the next doesnt rate the same strain from the same breeder as a high yielder, now is that 800 grm wet or dry, sum talk in 400grm per sq mt, does that mean , if shes a 6 footer youll get the 800?? & sum just say 800 per plant, after many hours of cross checking there are a few that do match up 2 be high yield outdoor , medium thc - 15% & not to hard to handle.> id be interested to hear others views & t…

Greetings all In south Australia, if you were to be busted growing a single plant , you would get an on the spot fine , which can be paid at any post office, no court or conviction, same as possesion (small amounts). But apparentely they changed the law on Hydro , were it is an offence to try to grow any this way, which shall require a court apperance & conviction. Can anybody tell me what defines Hydro, if you had a plant in a pot of soil inside with a light hanging over it, is that considered Hydro in the laws view. Or maybe it will depend on the magistrates mood. Ive tried reading the law, but its all to confusing for a nutter!!

Hi all, Just wondering what brand of filter is considered to be the best? And available in Aus. I was looking around and saw the Phat ones mentioned, and when I look them up on ebay, the Phresh ones come up.... Are they the same company or are people just keyword spamming? I bought one when I was first thinking of growing, but it is a generic brand and it's not full, you can here the carbon rattling around inside. That is not a good sign, right? Thanks in advance

I've been using these the last couple rounds. Mad roots and fat stalks. Wouldn't go back to plastic pots.
