General Cultivation Q&A

I want 2 grow hydroponically from seed using a simple resovoir system and rockwool as the medium, and then, take cuttings and grow them outside in soil. any advice on when to take cuttings, and when to plant them outdoors in australia.

um, my plants are two an a bits weeks old, when u reckon i should start with weak nutes, and how weak should i make em,the pack says for full strenth use 10ml per liter, im using "head on", anyone heard of it?,my resouvoir is maybe 25 litres?

gotta quick question,, it seems as though i have hit the pause button my plants, some are growing some dont seem to be doing much , they are still pretty young so im not expecting buds yet, but some have barely got 2 sets of leaves, a couple are doing there thing with a few leaves which are nice an green, but the others i dunno, also i threw 2 plants i already had, in their, ok listen to this, a few months back i had some plants growing,it wasnt seriuos i hadnt grown anything for a while an was keen on the day,after 2mths then they all decided to basicly shit them selves, i had to crops an this happened to both, the first one im sure i fucked them with slow release fertil…

a couple of weeks ago i inherited this plant from a friend after it had blown over and snapped in a storm and they were going to throw it out....such a waste so i grabbed it...after using my old trick of bandaging with medical dressing tape, it came to and shot up... this is an unknown strain and is yet to be sexed, but it will most likely be used solely for cooking so i decided to tie down the 2 main branches...it did split a little, only a few mm's but decided to tape it to prevent disease setting in... already the branches are starting to turn upwards and i will eventually tie down again when other branches get stronger... anyhow just wanted to share the process with…

just wondering, how safe are double adapters,powerboards an extension leads, i mean is it ok to get a power board an plug double adapters in it an then run it off an extension lead, i normally used to just plug shit in anywhere in the house an wack double adapters in, but since i got this set up, ive really been thinking about whats cool to have what ,plugged into where," if u get what im saying" an does anyone have any advice or maybe the way u plugg shit in, cheers , overanout

Just a q about general elec usage, if you have an "average", and I say that very loosely, 400w hps double wardrobe setup, what would the average per-month cost/usage be with everything put together? I mean, say we define "average" as being that you have a 400w, a couple of 12cm ball bearing computer fans, a small 15cm pedestal fan, 600 lph pump, small airpump, timers, and a temp/humidity sensor, and running a couple of pots on a recirculating expanded clay system, what would you think that would use, in total per month? Of course, I may be under or overestimating what one needs, minimum, to grow in a wardrobe, so in answering feel free to add to the list. I don't know, …

I have 8 plants here that need to go. There free to a good home, I dunno what strain they are, I can send pics if needed. The plants are in 6" pots in a bubbler. Anyone in sydney interested? i can meet u somewhere with em. i didnt wanna have to see my babys go but its either this or i throw em.

The common way to do a lids for bubblers is to have a solid pice of wood, or just the bucket lid with a hole cut out that the net pot sits in. Now I have this little problem in that I got buckets without lids. I'm not too keen on using timber for moisture reasons, plus the possiblity of leaching chems. What I thought was just run a couple of rods through the net pot just under the top rim that rest on the sides of the bubbling bucket and cover the top with black plastic. With this I can also check inside the bubbler if I want without having to pull the plant up.....just peel back the plastic. any thoughts?

How important is it to use airstones for indoor grow ,what size would i need for 50 ltr tank,and where to buy,thanks for advice,

Welcome All, Well I thought that I would start my diary today as I am going to collect all my lighting gear today, plus SPC will be sending off my clones tommorrow. Set Up Lighting: Son T Agro HPS 400w, Small Bat Wing Reflector, 400watt Control Unit. Strain Headstone from SPC. WateringPlants will be hand fed for first grow, Will look into drip watering next grow. Plants The 2 Headstone clones and a small basil plant. I have a good digital cam, So expect to see plenty of pic's as i get set up. AzZa

OK, let me tell you something about 20L buckets, THEY ARE BLOODY BIG! too big to comfortably fit in my little grow cupboard in fact. I decided to go with 11L square buckets and 100mm net pots, one per bucket. reckon that will be big enough? PS - had trouble locating a small water pump and float valve today, any suggestions on where these might be available? (hydro store was out of stock)

i know this sounds a little silly, but i setup, watering system kinda like toms, but my drippers wont drip, all they do is suck air and make my resouvoir bubble, i got a feeling i havent done it right, ok, i got a resouvior, with some line running around the cupboard an back to resouvoir" just had a second look at toms an i didnt put in the small line, it is the one size right round "13mm" i think, that part works, the water goes around an comes back to resouvoir, but when i punched in a dripper, it sucked air in? an bubbles the resouvoir,"also on a second look at tomo's, i didnt put in the preesure relief line, i felt like such a spastic, as id done most of it yesterday…
